that is true, our planet is alive and kicking, there is change though in the way we utilize and produce the products we use and the resources we obtain from our planet, its not like decades ago when you would just go dig up mines and blast terrain for coal or fossil fuels. i hope it all betters for the so that we can enjoy the beauty of our world. on another note,

Reminds me of the coal fire in Glenwood springs thats been burning for 100-some years.

Admiral Donutz;4900795Pretty cool, first heard about it earleir this year in the FH forums were we talked about a selection of spectacular sights: http://forums.filefront.com/fh-off-topic/396347-worlds-deepest-holes.html The post with that giant crystal cave in Mexico is pretty damn aswesome aswell. 070409-crystal-cave.jpg Regarding the burning pit, depending on how large the gas pocket is it can keep on burning for many decades or more...

Worlds Deepest holes, huh? :naughty:

n0e;4900998You do realize that Yellowstone is a super volcano, right? ... and it's active.

You don't realize just how much we rely on the sun, do you? The ash from the eruption would most certainly encompass the planet. Without the light from the sun, plants would die. Without plants to eat, herbivores would die, without either of them we would die. The 'hardship' you speak so lightly of would be utterly devastating to everyone in the world, not just North America.

Nothing I've ever seen or read has suggest that Yellowstone would blanket the whole of the Earth with an ash cloud, especially not for any significant length of time. As far as I know the last eruption 640,000 years ago didn't cause a mass extinction event, so what evidence is there to suggest it would do so now?

I KNEW this would come up. Its a total hoax. It sounds like a crowded swimming pool with a few audio filters over it.

No shit. You can tell it's pure bullshit from the overly dramatized text and dipshit conspiricist style webpage.

Those night-time pictures are haunting. I wish we had actually interesting things like that in the UK. Our tallest mountain is a mound, our deepest lake is a pond, and the only tourist attraction is an old woman with a crown. I guess you could photograph castles, but you can only take so many photos of crumbling grey stones before people get bored...

If guys who stand still for a long time whilst wearing Marge Simpson hats are our greatest claim to fame, we're done for! But you can't really kick them in the balls though. Believe it or not they are actually British Army soldiers tasked with the defence of the sovereign, however ceremonial the task may be now. Aside from the fact that they have been known to get rather pissed off with tourists who constantly try to test that little legend, you'd get done for assault. That'd put a damper on your holiday even more than the weather.

Well Mr. Matt, at least Britain has you. Imagine how drab and boring it would be without you.
