I mean, it's not like any woman ever did anything during the French Revolution. We certainly can't think of any.

With love, Ubisoft

They ran out of unique armoured bikini styles so they scrapped the female characters altogether.

Damn, I guess we'll have to start using complete armor for women now.

If we have to use complete armor why not simply use guys instead?

The newest Assassin's Creed was supposed to have women as playable characters. Instead, there are four men. Ubisoft claimed modelling women characters (except npc women of course - that's totally different and super easy) was more difficult than incorporating life-like physics, amazing post processing effects, and texture resolutions that will burn your eyes out.

What? Were they listening to themselves when they said that? That argument makes zero sense for many many reasons. Where did you originally find this out?

I first saw it here

Boils down to "it was just much work". Googling "Assassin's creed unity woman" brings up most of the articles on it.

"It's not a question of philosophy....we just think half the population is invalid as a viable protagonist, and therefore not worth the effort of including in the game."

I found a somewhat more detailed article http://gamerant.com/ubisoft-excuses-for-no-females-in-assassins-creed-unity/
