I do not listen to much rap music but as a recent credited creative writer , and as someone who has an art history, art award for being one of the top students I have recently come to realize that rap music is extremely creative and some of it dare I say a form of poetry.

I am considering writing some and sending it to some one. Rap music is very creative and under credited.

Thoughts?

I definitely agree with you. I used to be against rap in general, thinking it was a bunch of crap, but then... I actually listened to some. Now, granted, there is alot of bad rap out there. But, it can also be pretty masterfully done. True, its not poetry in the sense that Shakespeare never talked about smokin' weed and hittin' bitches, but... Yes, I would agree that it is a valid and often enjoyable art form.

The reason why Rap is under creditied is because certain people "judge the book by its cover". They think Rap is bad because of how the artist looks and dresses. But this is all my opinion.

Like anything though it started fun and good and is great dance music. People ruined it like they do to anything . It is similar to most entertainment forms where ideas get lazier and less tasteful

Medafusion agress rap in gerneral as a music form is quite elegant as it is just rhyming for example the barney "i love you" song. However it has gotten a bad 'rap' due to artist's disrespecting women and other bad things.

I agree, I have been addicted to this song

YouTube - WILL SMITH- MIAMI

I do not think that will smith ever lost the true meaning of rap.

Modernised, popularised lyrical poetry perhaps.

I know not all rap lyrics are needlessly violent, shallow and materialistic, but even when they aren't I just can't listen to it. As in, I physically can't stand hearing someone rap. Of course it can be considered an art form, even the most commercialized music is art to a degree, but I find it unbearable.

I used to be too uptight for it soula boy or whatever and guys like that are a disgrace to rap, in fact the only rap artist I can appreciate thus far is will smith.
