It seems that the Crocodile Hunter met his demise in the Cairns. Sucks to see him go, though. He was always entertaining. :'(
THE Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, is dead. He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said. It is understood he was killed by a stingray barb that went through his chest. He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary and that's when it occured. Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas. His body is being flown to Cairns. A Tourism Queensland spokeswoman today said the death was shocking and paid tribute to Irwin's "enormous contribution" to his adopted state. Louise Yates said it was impossible to quantify how much Mr Irwin had meant to the Queensland tourism industry. "I don't think we could even estimate how much he brought us through his personality and his profile and his enthusiasm about Queensland," she said. With The Courier Mail and AAP
Yeah, that sucks that he died. I can't say I watched too many of the things he did, but I kinda did when I was younger, so he's not unkown to me. He will be missed. RIP :'(

In his line of work, those odds are much higher. I kinda expected him to die in his line of work, or in a recreational activity, but taking a stingray barb to the chest? That just did not seem like a major contender. Eaten by a croc? Ok, that is acceptable. Snake's venom? Yeah, that could work. But stingray? :cort:
Yeah, I think he forgot to put in the god mode code before he started filming...
His wife doesn't even know yet, she's off hiking in some mountain or something I guess.

Once source says that, another says his family has been notified. I imagine she's reachable, despite being off in who-knows-where.
Anyway, my sister and I are both very upset by this news. Good ol' Steve was family entertainment for us, and my sister had an addiction to his show (and him) for a good long while, so we'll definitely be missing him here. My condolences go out to his family... those poor kids, having to grow up without their father.
woot!!! no way a friggin stingray got em, man i thought for sure he couldnt be killed through all the snak bites and croc fighting oh well i guess nature won the war
