When someone has lost a child, I don't see what kind of threat you could level against them that would discourage them from blurting out the truth. I know (from experience) that if somebody threatened my nephews, nothing could keep me from going ballistic, and they aren't even my own offspring. I can't even imagine what it would take to manipulate a parent into lying about their own child.
I remember these things popping up the first time around, centering around a video of one of the parents of the children acting "normal"- laughing, instead of looking sad, before a television conference. These people assumed that to be in grieving you must be 24/7 bummed out, so something must have been up. Either the government did it, or the whole thing is one elaborate media hoax.
The reasoning of these people is that the government needs public support for gun control, and they can only achieve gun control through a tragedy like Sandy Hook. These guys think that something like Sandy Hook would have not happened unless the government wanted it, and in effect create a pretext for more gun control and begin the path to Obama's islamofascist communazi eurosocialist dictatorship of the United States.
This is an extension of what has been referred to as "False Flag" operations. False Flag operations do exist and they have happened in history before, employed by a state actor to achieve some end goal- typically a pretext for strengthening state security and control or invading a country. Strategy of Tension is another extension of this.
So the conspiracy with Sandy Hook, as alleged by these people, is that it was engineered by the government in order to give Obama the momentum he needs to create his gun control and ergo plans for infringement on liberty and plans to take over the country. This is to be achieved by the expected public outpouring by the public on the issue and thus pressure on politicians to support him or risk the wrath of public opinion.
This comes up about every instance of mass killing, IIRC there were similar allegations that James Holmes, the perpetrator of the Aurora theater killings, may have been tied up with the government because they feel there was no other way he could have gotten all the stuff he did, and how conveniently it fit into what they allege is, again, government plan to take over the United States starting with restrictions on individual liberties. Because, as they feel, Obama can't do this without confiscating all the guns in order to prevent a mass uprising against his dictatorship.
The notion of gun confiscation by the government as a prelude to a dictatorship is a running theme in conspiracies in the United States. Let's take a look at the summary of The Turner Diaries- it's a racist piece of junk (and by and large most of these people aren't racist but there tends to be an overlap with the Alex Jones flavored conspiracy theorists) but the theme is there.
The story starts soon after the federal government has confiscated all civilian firearms in the country under the fictional Cohen Act, and the Organization to which Turner and his cohorts belong goes underground and engages in guerrilla war against the System, which is depicted as the totality of the government, media, and economy that is under left-wing Jewish control. The Organization starts with acts such as the bombing of FBI headquarters and continues to prosecute an ongoing, low level campaign of terrorism, assassination and economic sabotage throughout the United States. Turner's exploits lead to his initiation into the Order, a quasi-religious inner cadre that directs the Organization and whose existence remains secret to both the System and ordinary Organization members.
This ties into the numerous conspiracies around what Obama is planning to do, as were previous ones alleging he rigged the elections in both 2008 and 2012, is a stealth Muslim intentionally driving the country to the ground, implementing "Marxist" economic policies, etc etc. There's people who'll willingly believe this nonsense, and you'll have them come up every time. It came up with 9/11 (government had a hand in or let happen to create pretext for PATRIOT Act), it came up with Waco, and it came up with about everything before then.
The problem with these conspiracy theories, like anything else, is they have a very simplistic notion of the way state power actually works. There's a difference between a pervasive operation like COINTELPRO or Operation Gladio, and trying to tie up these events after the fact as a part of a larger scheme. Thankfully these people only constitute a fringe part of our populace, a factor that the same individuals would likely attribute to the conspiracy's pervasive influence in making us all sheeple and blind to the truth.

What I've learned here today is that the American people are even more paranoid than I could possibly have imagined.
Seriously, folks. Pick your battles!
Mr. Matt;5678192What I've learned here today is that the American people are even more paranoid than I could possibly have imagined.
Believe me, you have no idea just how paranoid we can be... No matter the situation, there is sure to be someone who thinks there is a conspiracy there. It doesn't matter if it is a tragedy or our greatest achievements, there will be nutjobs out there claiming there is a conspiracy.
