Right, I've looked and looking into saucer seperation.

First, you'd need three ship 3D frames, sets of textures and scripts. Next you'd need to mod the menu so you have a seperation button. Next, new script that does the following,switch players to seperated model,textures and scripts, copies the damage from the whole ship onto the two seperated ships and places the AI in charge of one of the ships.

On that last one we need more detail I think. Placing the AI incharge of one of the seperated ships is dificult, the AI scripts can be called, no problem, however, how would we sent the now two sets of data to the server for it to distribute to all the other players...... My thaught on that is to have the client open up a second connection to the server, problem with that is, A twice as much data to the server and B) 8 players being max = a potential problem if the player limit is exceeded.

So, I believe it could be done, but It's a major re-write of BC's python code to do it.

I'll get our python programmer on it and see if I can't include it in my mod pack :dance:

alright people,

very nice idea with the saucer seperation, could u not script the ai to brake the player ai script (like sub scripts) into player A and player B scripts with the seperate model and texture for the two bits, so that it will still be one player. please reply on this matter.

Well no, you would create a (commandable) ally, very easy to do this, it's just the damage to the subsystems, the torpedo loads, and the movie, the buttons and the changing the player that are hard. But apart from this, it's actually very easy, I'm trying to make this right now.

Lol simple, huh ;) Lets just say im prolly the guy thats ahead of every other MVAM scripter here, i have it officially working (and proven in screenies) everything from a cutscene to delayed ai implementation. Good luck figurin it out, man ;) I certainly didnt realize i had this much competition lol.. oh, u mentioned C2X was doin it too.. no offense but i wouldnt be worried about him. *whistles innocently* well, good luck to ya. I feel like its a space race lol

saucer separation good. However the captain should go to the battle bridge, along with any and all senior officers. The stardrive section is the most crucial since it has the warp core, and if need be the saucer section can provide both critical support and or distraction while the stardrive warps away. Also to make the game more realistic have all the damage to the saucer section be separate from the stardrive section so upon separation the damage stats will be more accurate.

okay, now to talk civilly. Battle bridge is out of the question until my team at DAP makes one. Even then i doubt i'll add it, its just not worth all the effort to change a bridge, also it would eat up a lot of cpu cycles to switch it over anyways. Just not worth the wait time.

which section you seperate into will be up to you, i will have a choice between stardrive and saucer, or for the prommy a choice of the 3 sections.

damage will be transfered over from the connected ship and onto the seperated ships. That's one of the major goals i set and i easily know how to do it. Worked with that type before, its not a problem.

We don't like the character bashing of modders here, if you have a problem with another modder on these boards you should contact a member of the BCFiles staff about it.

Well I do love reading sneaker rants, but I'm sorry if the use of english isn't as highly developed on these forums as BCU. Most of the time when some one says 'you gotta' they mean 'it would be really cool if' try to lighten up a bit around us Sneaker. We know your really really talented, theres no reason to fly off the handel at us lesser beings though.
