Hi everybody! Currently I am graduating with my thesis on advertising in games. You would help me a lot if you would fill out this questionnaire for 5 minutes, which is about NFS:MW and some general issues.:nodding: Also, everybody who will participate will have a chance of winning a free computer game!:bows: http://www.studentenonderzoek.com/?qid=14728&ln=eng Thanx in advance! :cya: Steven

Eh, what do an Alfa Romero, a BMW, Burger King and McDonalds have to do with games?

Checked out the link, it isn't an advertising or for-profit site as far as I can see.

Unless it is, of course, a demographic study...

:(

Well as the topic shows, my research is about advertising in games. So the BMW you're driving in Need for Speed: Most Wanted and the Burger King on the side of the road are examples of advertising (product placement) in games. But the question is, are BMW and Burger King more liked by NFS players than non-players? I can't tell too much because that would interfere with the study:lol: Greetings! And thanks for filling out the questionnaire..:bows:

Steven, I teach at a University in Australia and am also studying to complete a thesis on Advertising in games, however my focus is on Advergaming, not In-Game advertising like yourself.

May I ask how you got ethical clearance to give away a free game?

If you'd like to talk more about this, PM me and we'll swap emails. I'd be interested to learn about your methodology, hypotheses and so on.

Filled in.

As for advertising in games in general (pure classic advertising with banners or models or more hidden advertisments such as when look-alikes are used) is acceptable aslong as it fits in the gameplay. Surely a burgerking advertiment in a medieval fantasy game would be out of place but a burger king ad on a wall in a racing game would be just fine aslong as it fits in the enviroment. Realism is very important and if that generates some extra bucks then why not?
