Sorry for the double post but I went and spoke to them in person. They were actually helpful, he scheduled me to take the Air Force Officer Qualification Test (AFOQT) next month and we'll see where it goes from there. I got a few books on the test and now I'm studying. Any idea how the test works? I imagine it is like the ASVAB where there isn't really a pass or fail but that scores on individual sections correlate to jobs available to me in the Air Force, is that true? I assume a bad score in the physics section isn't going to doom me.

Though a branch centered around airplanes does seem like it would value knowledge of physics. But I don't really know.

A knowledge of physics might not be as necessary if you were to be flying a desk.

Reading further, only four sections are key for actual "Officer Qualification," which are Verbal Analogies, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge and Math Knowledge. The other seven, although I also have to take them are to gauge our aptitude to be pilots and navigators and not relevant in selecting individuals for Officer Training School.

The only job worth doing in the AF as an officer is either pilot or air crew.

If I was a professional desk jockey I'd have shot myself in the face by now.

Lol. Don't sweat it, there's lot's of fun jobs in any branch, and I have no problem with being a "Chairborne Ranger" myself. I personally don't agree with the "War on Terror" and I don't believe it's a good use of military resources, but I love the military as a whole and it's something I've wanted to do for a long time.

Recruiters dont lie to you, but they sure tell alot of lies of omission. They feed off your ignorance. If you dont ask, they wont tell you. So, ask about the bullshit.
