I've seen quite a few threads recently showing some 'cool' battle footage from Iraq, and other wars, and other threads on the subject. I thaught, seeing as this is a time to be remembering those who died in battle, to present some footage i put together myself. Watch it all, then think about that footage you saw, and what you saw on Fox that night in 2003. But this is becoming a speach, the idea is to express my thaughts with pictures, not words;

Thank you for your time.

*Sigh* Ah the hypocrisy, it's hard even to know where to begin. I'll put it this way: Anyone who has ever watched a film which incorporated violence and has liked it is doing exactly the same thing, anyone who plays violent video games, or plays chess is doing the same thing. We're all guilty of playing with something that represents war and liking it, so what gives you the authority to come here and say this without being a hypocrite?

:mihailhatesu: I commend you FileTrekker, its not very often that you find somthing like this...the "real" Iraq, from the perspective of the citizens. Not just the whole mentality "Dude, thats AWESOME, its sooooo powerful. :p " kind of thing, this is the real world, the real emotions, and the real video.

It's different. In movies and games, they're just pixels, nothing more.

In this video, they are real live people, with minds and flesh and blood, being blown apart.

No, what you see when you watch this video is pixels, what you seen when you watch the movie is pixels. To see real live people with minds and flesh and blood, being blown apart, you'd have to fly to Iraq and be there when it happened.

For me, the ability to be entertained by explosions is ruined when someone gets hurt, whether or not I see it first person.

Yet in war films people get hurt, that it is recreated after the fact is of little consequence. High definition TV, surround sound, all so real you can virtually taste the brain matter as it's plastered all over the laughing clown wallpaper; it may even be said that the video we shoot for films is more realistic than the stuff that is shot in combat.

nice find trekker, just wish there was more of that around so people sat in their nice homes with their families and all the comforts of life could see what living in a war zone is like. movies are movies, just entertainment, this is a video of real life

Thinking about it.

Thats the difference with this and films and games. When watching the movies and such, you realize that, yes, all this happened. These people died, sometimes in horrible ways. But you know the actor who you just saw take an artillery hit to his fox hole is safely in his house sipping some coffee. Not so with the war footage.
