So anyways today I had a bunch of Christians coming to my and going on about Jesus is the reason for the season. So I decided to tell them this little snip of info.

Jesus is NOT the reason for the season after all. I do have to share my two cents regarding this holiday time. Christians may have pulled the dark wool over the eyes of most of humanity, but they cannot wipe the slate of history clean. As Christianity (often violently) asserted its influence throughout the Roman empire, it was regarded as necessary to supplant Roman paganism with Christian doctrine/practices.

The official Roman calendar was changed, and the holy days consecrated to Roman deities were converted to events of Christian mythos. December 25 is one of those days. Originally consecrated to the Sun-God Mithra as the day of his birth.

Then just carried on with there conversation with me like that paragraph didn't happen. I was like ignorant much lol...

Mad props to you for standing up to them. Haha. I gotta give you a big high five too. I know it's a christian holiday, but really, I can understand it a bit, but when they go on and on and on and on about it, it get annoying.

Christmas has a bunch of Pagan traditions in it. Kinda ironic I think.

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that the timing of Christmas was originally to coincide with a pagan holiday. Any Christian worth their salt should know that (if they don't they're probably not all that devoted and are trying to cover it up with excessive evangelism).

Easter is another holiday with a lot of pagan customs in it, or so I've been told. + rep for standing up to them. Anything like that from me in this town would probably have me burned at the stake.

My thoughts exactly.

It's not covered up. Most Christians I know are perfectly aware of the history of their faith and holidays. Most know that Jesus wasn't really born until later in the year.

Maybe you just don't talk to the right Christians.
