LINK > BBC NEWS | Health | Teenagers risk sex health crisis (UK) Teenagers are facing a "sexual health crisis" fuelled by alcohol, drugs and risky sexual behaviour, a report warns.
They are "defining their lifestyle" by this behaviour, encouraged by celebrity culture, the Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health and HIV says. The increase in sexually-transmitted infections and high teenage pregnancy rates are "disturbing", it says. The Department of Health said sexual health was among its "top priorities". The report said recent government campaigns had failed to recognise the link between drink, drugs and sexual health. The IAG also points out that the UK has the highest rates of teenage pregnancy and sexual infections in Europe. 'Glamorising celebrity' Increasing numbers of young teenagers are defining their lives by taking drugs, drinking alcohol and having under-age sex encouraged by today's celebrity culture, it says. Professor Mark Bellis, head of the centre for public health at Liverpool John Moores University and one of the authors of the report, called the link between alcohol, drugs and risky sexual behaviour a "fuel for a sexual health crisis". .. .. OK so how many of you teens here full into the above!? Hmmm? I reckon its getting worse everyday! Holy shit look at those graphs people.. damn! What? .. we're gonna have 10 / 11 year olds openly having sex soon? :( Here in my country 'they' dropped the drinking age to 18! MAD, they shouldve lifted it to 21 (was 20years). Yeah its not only drink but its got a shit load to do with it. :cort:
I know this girl had sex on her 11'th birthday. Also, the drinking age for Australia is 18. Might be 21 in another state, not sure.
:EDIT: Nice find btw
11 years old, yeah thats just sick. I think I remember a girl I once knew did that as well^, shes a total slut bag now. But what I meant was that the way 16-17 year olds 'doing it' they way they do, its only gonna get younger. Its upsetting. :(
The legal age for sex in Aust is 16. Or so I think. Another 2 years :|

Interesting claims but hasn't the whole "celeb, drugs, alchohol and sex" "culture" been around since will... the hippy era? so there must be more to it then just that.
That being said sure it's wrong for 12 year olds etc. to have sex or drink themself into a coma.
As for the drinking age, 18 is still high. It's 16 here for beverages (beer etc.) and 18 for spirits (vodka etc.). Don't think it has a major influence on drinking habbits, with a higher drinking age people of around 14-16 will still get their hands on it (older brother etc.) since at that age they start to experimentate. Legal (and hopefully paren controlled) acces and care makes sure these teens experience the negative effects of drinks (entoxication) and therefor will know that their are limits (which also lets them experience first hand why not to drink and drive later on, at the age of 18+ here).
