If there's one thing in life I hate, it's the dentist. I can't stand them. Yeah, I'm actually petrified of them. Sue me. Yet today, I had to pay them a visit.

You see, I'm having braces fitted at the end of October (a couple of days before I go and see Enter Shikari - I felt it necessary to point their impeccable timing) so I had to have two teeth removed so the braces actually do what they're supposed to when they're eventually fitted.

Now, two hours later and I sound like a retard. I can hardly talk due to the numbing cream they put on my teeth before they injected me with anesthetic and my girlfriend keeps teasing me about the way I talk. ><'

Anyone else hate the dentist? Any funny/painful stories involving the dentist?

Besides them overcharging you thanks to the parial privitasation of the health care system? No. I have to say though that having to for every tool used no matter how minor is bad enough, having to pay for how many times the tool was used (eka how many times a buton was pressed0 is pathetic... For several things they use this purple-blue-ish emitting tool. Probably to harden some sort of applicant. Anyway the times it was used the bill showed not only "use of said tool" but "Use of tool x3" because he had to push the button three times (it works for like 5 seconds... if that doesn't do the job he needs to press the button again..).

That's just silly. Luckily the insurance covers most of the costs but it's still plain silly.

I don't know why, but I like going to the dentist. Knowing that it also maintains my health makes it even better.

When I was two the very first profession I ever wanted to do was being a dentist.

XD, happens to me too, I find myself spitting out that stuff almost all day.

Me personally I used to hate the dentist but now it's.. o.k... I've been lucky with my teeth as I've eaten a lot of junk growing up but only had one or two fillings, could of been a lot more.

I had braces for a while. It wasn't painful, just boring really. I don't remember any pain actually from the whole braces experience.

I had 2 of my wisdom teeth pulled about 6 months ago. No pain there either, but it was scary to hear them being pulled out even if I was totally numb in my mouth.

It's fucked up, really it is, to not be able to close your mouth properly because you're so numbed up, I nearly had my tongue out of my mouth like some comic book character. Lasted only for an hour or so though.

I am quite lucky and have teeth that are in good condition so I am not afraid of going. I just hate going cause it costs how ever much money for some dude to poke around in my mouth with something pointy and to be told that my teeth are fine and to come back in 6th months... fucking irritates me.

I don't mind the dentist. I have only had one filling and braces. I had some emergency work done when my baby teeth did not want to come out, and just fractured.

I was 12 when I got my only filling. They just gave me some novacaine. After they started, I asked if I could use a mirror to watch them fix the cavity. They let me watch.

I used to hate the dentist but I got over it at 9.

Braces = Orthodontist
