First off, I know I've been making a ton of topics lately. If it annoys anyone please tell me and I'll slow it down. This community can go pretty slow topic-wise and I like to talk.
Most of you have absolutely no idea what the Golden Horseshoe test is. I live in West Virginia and we have a course in the eighth grade called West Virginia History. Basically, every year all the eighth graders in the state are tested two times. Once at the school level to decide which students will be taking the real test and once to actually take the test that matters.
I was chosen as one of those who gets to take the real test on Tuesday. The top 212 (EPIC NUMBER) scores in the state are taken to the capitol and knighted in the Order of the Golden Horseshoe. Sadly, you don't actually receive a real golden horseshoe, just a pin.
Normally, something like this would have absolutely no importance to me but my father said that if I am a winner he'll buy me a laptop at Best Buy. I've been wanting a new computer for ages now and a Vista capable laptop is definitely meeting the "OMFG" scale.
I know a kid who took the test last year and won. He told me that all he did was read the book once through and basically had everything he needed to take the test. Apparently, the test is "easy." I don't totally trust what he told me so on top of having read the entire text book I am going to go through and answer all of the chapter review questions.
So discuss how awesome my laptop is going to be. :nodding:
SICKNESS!!! But don't go too crazy over it, because if you lose, you might get really dissappointed... But good luck!
I took two pretests today and got a 75% on the 75 question one, 72% on the 100 question test. According to my WV History teacher the average score for winners in my county last year was 55% so I think I'm doing pretty well. The thing that really messed with me on the 100 question test was this section where they numbered certain regions of the state and asked you where things like the state fair take place. I've gone over these questions however and expect to do bettero n them.
Test is tomorrow.
