So I just read the quote below.

Is it just me or could you just replace some of the names and places in this piece, and you could make it sound like any famous insane dictator of years gone past or present?

Donald Trump has cancelled a White House event with the Philadelphia Eagles after it emerged the Super Bowl champions were only sending a "small delegation".

The president said more than 1,000 fans due to attend the celebrations would be invited to a "different type of ceremony" that would honor "our great country".

“The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow,” Mr. Trump said in a statement. “They disagree with their president because he insists that they proudly stand for the national anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country.”

He said the team wanted to send a smaller delegation on Tuesday, but "the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better."

The celebration will instead feature the US Marine Band and the US Army Chorus, that "will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem", Mr Trump said.

None of the Eagles took a knee during the anthem in 2017.

One of the people set to attend the ceremony told The Associated Press fewer than half of the players planned to go. The person spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the decision.

Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney replied with his own statement, saying that he is "equally proud of the Eagles' activism off the field" and that the players "represent the diversity of our nation — a nation in which we are free to express our opinions".

America in general seems to have forgotten the fact that you are supposed to kneel before a king or queen. That is to show your submission and respect.

And yet, America sees kneeling as protesting? Really, America?

That's okay, the hicks will bring some delightfully diabetic sweet tea with them.

Ugh. I swear that stuff. I don't know how you gulp it down. There's sweet and then there is a liquid super saturated with sucrose. That fucking saccharine syrup made me want to vomit. Worse still, apparently it's iced. It may have been just bearable if it was a warm/hot beverage.

That's sweet tea, alright!

And trust me, I don't gulp it down -- I think it's vile. It's definitely in the top 10 reasons I left the south. Near the bottom, sure, but it's there.

What are the other reasons? If you don't mind divulging, that is. Asking for a friend.
