The Pub is an important place for me in the internet and without it I would hardly visit GF. As the section interests me greatly, I would like to hear what people would like to see more in the Pub, the most? More topics, less flaming? Vote and tell your thoughts.

The Pub - What should be improved?

Tell me what I think is odd here. :lookaround:

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

I guess Relander thinks that people are less afraid of the evil Pub-moderators over here ;)

Seriously though, if that's the case I suggest you send your ideas via PM to Relander who can then post it here. Keep it civil though. You can also send feedback to us Pub-moderators at any time of course.

As for the thread, I think the Pub is doing fine at the moment. My main-concern is the reputation-system that seems to annoy/scare a lot of people, I tried to counter this by giving out a bit more reputation than I usually do.

I agree with all you say…and this (the Pub) is supposed to be more or less as I understand an adult themed forum. Some of the folks are not sure how to deal with abrupt concern or comment to their obvious lack of knowledge. For me it is a slap or clap atmosphere. If what you say has merit and you can back it up cool it leads to engaging threads, if not get ready for a showdown. Some folks spout off about topics and make statements they have no clue on…which on occasion makes for interesting reads when they get hammered…especially by yours truly.

I opt for "More respectful & civilized discussion". I've avoided the pub like a plage since i've been here because many of the members there seem to be trying to assert some sort of superiority over each other rather than simply stating and explaining their views over certain topics. The pub seems to slowly be developing some characteristics of the now-gone melee in my eyes. however, this is just my view from afar. For those who experience the pub firsthand, what do you think of my opininon?

I don’t really care about the little crybaby rep squares, personally I don't give them; I have enough green to balance it out. Besides your not going to please everyone, and that is not the point. If you truly believe you are in the right and can back it up members/guests can either deal with it or stay in the kiddie pool of safer threads. A few of the individuals who’s little remarks went too far got called out by me in the thread, you can disagree or be pissed, but be prepared for the “slap” if you take it to a personal level.

I voted for a wider variation on topic subjects, though I also wouldn't mind if the people participating in the discussions were more respectful towards other's ideas.

Also, I don't think it's the topics really, rather the content. Mostly it's just everyone restating what they or others have said before.

Pretty much, on the everyone restating the same thing over and over...maybe the moderators can close a thread when this pattern continues over and over. Some of these threads have 8+ pages and I don't think the people posting even know what the threads theme is about anymore.

Also, respect is earned not given and should not be presumed either given the subject matter in the Pub. Respect is earned by posting logical or at least accurate statements. Some of the regular post-ers I have come to respect very much, even those I pretty much disagree with on a constant basis.

I agree with earning respect, but that doesn't give members an excuse to insult another person just for the fact that they don't agree with them. I can deal with sharp comments and shielding ignorance with sarcasm, but it would be a lot more beneficial if people argued with ideas instead of insults.
