Being a bit of a gamer myself, one of the things thats been on my mind lately is that importance of the community part of gaming. I mean, built up around almost every online game is a community of players; just like this one. It's even bigger than that. Gaming becomes part of life: its about meeting and competing with people that have the same game tastes as you. I'm studying at the University of Waterloo, and gaming communities are one of the topics I've always wanted to look into. Now I've been given the chance to do that. What I want to know is how you guys feel about being part of this community. How have you changed since you started gaming? What do you bring to this forum and to the gaming community?

If theres anything lengthy you want to post, just contact me at davis269@hotmail.com

Nothing has changed really, I just spend a little less time gaming and more on the forums, helping others. I bring order in some sub-forums if needed and helping out where ever I can.

Well, since when I joined I tried to contribute to alot of threads, especially in the old political discussion forum we used to have. I got into graphics around february of 2005 and spent alot of time in the graphics forum, polishing my skills, helping out with requests, and that kind of thing (by this time i had become active in just about every main discussion forum on here, as well as trying out for a job on bcfiles, and helping with problems in that forum here). I was soon appointed the job of General Discussion mod and was given the chance to be the moderator of the graphics department alongside Fragger and S3phiroth (who was given that job the same day as I and still is there).

I tried to comment on all of the staff issues, help other members and other staff, and hang around on IRC. Of course, things change, and I decided to leave staff to give myself more time for my schoolwork, yet still hang around here. I still help a little bit in the graphics forum, and I think that was the main area I helped.

My gaming community is all the friends I have who play ETF (see sig). We are a small community who have played this same "Team Fortress" type mod since Quake 3 Fortress beta 1H came out in 1999.

The game went trough transformations and even got ported from Quake 3 Arena to Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory in January 2005.

Everytime I join one of the 3 or 4 active servers (I did say small community) I see a familiar name from years ago and it's always great that way!

With the "Color coded" player names allowed in the game, it makes it easier to spot the people you know :)

This community here at FF is sorta special to me! I came here to make friends and have made many! Long live FF Gaming forums :)

Not a lot has changed since I joined... I don't really post a lot. Sooo, pretty much no one knows I exist, and those that do are probably annoyed by my presence. :| Oh well.

I bring nothing here but bland opinions and the occassional sarcastic remark.

Since I started gaming I've gone from single player etc to enjoying multiplayer with a bunch of friends I only know over the internet. I don't know what I bring to this forum and community, probably a relaxing fun attitude.

Pretty much the same for me, I spent a little less time on gaming but that is about it. Nothing changed about my character, I always loved to debate and help others out and this place allowed me to do so.

Would I be able to leave this place behind? No, atleast not easily. I have met new friends here and debating with people from all sorts of backgrounds rather then real life friends around you is someting I wouldn't want to miss.
