So it's really snowing in the UK, which is nice.

Unfortunately it's also FREEZING COLD and getting to work and back, while possible is a real pain in the arse.

Like always in this country though, one flake of snow hits the ground and the country falls apart.

What's the snow like in your country? Common / rare, easy to deal with or a major pain?

Welp, I'm in the UK, and in part of the UK that got a pretty nice frosting. Fortunately, not being employed by anyone besides myself at the moment, I don't have to go to work. So, I'm sitting in a nice warm room overlooking some gardens watching kids throw snowballs at each other. tonguez.gif

Took the camera out for a little while and got some pics. I think this one's probably the best of the bunch:

Bird taking off from snow-covered branch.

Game-night has been cancelled - my gaming group are in villages and towns that surround my home-town - so they can't all make it. Rural Kent has that going for it in terms of roads being clear ¬_¬

But on the whole it's not bad at the moment. A business meeting I had scheduled for Friday has been mutually moved to next week... that's about the most impact it has had on me.

When I used to work up in London, snow was a bit of a bitch. Like you could spend several hours doing a forty minute journey. Might be doing that again in the near term future, there's a two year contract that might be interesting up there. But ya' know, them's the breaks. Bundle up warm, take a flask of coffee and a bottle to piss in in case you're stuck on the motorway for 18 hours or something silly.

From what I've heard this is a rather rare storm for you guys, at least in terms of the amount of snowfall some places are getting.

All it did here was rain all day and the power went out.

It was rather rare yes. I've not seen snow like it in literally a decade.

The novelty soon wore off.

However, as with all things, the snow has now passed and it is far easier to travel once more.

We just had a weird one. Started snowing late at night, dumped about 4 inches of snow by around noon the next day and by 6 pm that night most of it was melted because the temps went up 25 degrees.

Weird one here too, major snow landed overnight but had gone by about 8am.

Some parts of the UK got buried worse than last week with all the major ballyhoo over it, and this had NO notice at all.....

Weird.

Last two weeks it got rather cold here (-15 degrees during the day) in the south of Germany. This week is better, around zero. Not so much snow though.

Getting around in snow is actually not that difficult for me. Putting a lot of weight in the boot will increase your traction, whether or not your car is rear-wheel drive. Just make sure the weight is something that will not move around, or secure it so it doesn't move.

The next thing is simply drive slower. A few months ago, I drove a solid 20mph. That drive home took me an hour, but I never once encountered any poblems whatsoever.
