O this is just the start. I guess they have not read the Freedom of speach line in our constitution.....this wil never pass..... and if it does I am going to leave the US...mark my word........ If you come after my guns with a new bill there will be some dead US agents on my lawn.....

Many millions of people hold conspiracy theories; they believe that powerful people have worked together in order to withhold the truth about some important practice or some terrible event. A recent example is the belief, widespread in some parts of the world, that the attacks of 9/11 were carried out not by Al Qaeda, but by Israel or the United States. Those who subscribe to conspiracy theories may create serious risks, including risks of violence, and the existence of such theories raises significant challenges for policy and law. The first challenge is to understand the mechanisms by which conspiracy theories prosper; the second challenge is to understand how such theories might be undermined. Such theories typically spread as a result of identifiable cognitive blunders, operating in conjunction with informational and reputational influences. A distinctive feature of conspiracy theories is their self-sealing quality. Conspiracy theorists are not likely to be persuaded by an attempt to dispel their theories; they may even characterize that very attempt as further proof of the conspiracy. Because those who hold conspiracy theories typically suffer from a crippled epistemology, in accordance with which it is rational to hold such theories, the best response consists in cognitive infiltration of extremist groups. Various policy dilemmas, such as the question whether it is better for government to rebut conspiracy theories or to ignore them, are explored in this light.

Uh, this isn't a US government bill. If what the link you've posted is the correct one, it seems to be a university paper.

You should be able to get authentic US bills from here,

http://thomas.gov/

You said it's a US bill in your thread title. I came in thinking it's that, and instead you link us all to a university paper.

Clearly you didn't even bother reading your own link.

And "that kind of thinking is not what we need" is exactly the kind of thinking that causes people to kill freedom of speech. So I would say you are more at fault for taking issue with a university paper which discuses what conspiracy theories are, how they arise, why they stick, and what is the best method with dealing with them (with a wide variety of opinions ranging from actively fighting them to ignoring them).

Yes I did. They are working on a bill that will have many of these ideas in it.

Where? You haven't furnished a link.

UNLESS IT'S A CONSPIRACY AND IT'S SUPER SECRET AND THE NWO DOESN'T WANT US KNOWING ABOUT IT

As there has not been a single bit of supporting evidence to show that there is such a bill in the works, I've changed the thread title to make it less confusing.
