The biggest insurance scam of the earth as well as a massacre that left thousands of families lives distraught.

All for a bigger insurance pay out...

Are those families living a lie? Should "The White Star Line" put up their hands?

It has been said, from day one of the Titanic being born that at some point the Titanic was switched for its sister ship, the Olympic.

Before the launch, wood / metal workers from the Titanic began to realise how its original design was changing to look more and more like its one year old sister, the Olympic.

No more than a year after the Olympic was launched, it suffered horrific structural damage from a collision with another boat.

The damage was so bad it was no longer sea worthy, practically a write off.

Because of the collision, "The White Star Line" would only receive a fraction of the insurance claim. Millions would be lost. Something had to be done...

The White Star Line's only way out was to switch the ships a few days before the launch of the Titanic.

From any ordinary person in the street, the two ships looked identical. You couldn't tell them apart.

When a new boat is born, by law, its taken out on a three day sea trial. The Titanic went out for just, one.

The White Star Lines plan was to send the Titanic (now the Olympic) on a voyage to a slow sinking, grizzly death.

In the port of which the Titanic was "supposed" to get to, was another one of "The White Star Line's" ships. It set sail at full speed with just enough crew to drive the ship, empty cargo holds and 20 thousand jumpers and towels.

What was strange is that this ship sailed at full speed out to the middle of the Atlantic, just to stop.

As all this was happening the Titanic (now a patched up Olympic) was setting sail.

What the "Star Lines" owners didn't expect was for the Titanic to hit an ice burg.

Over an hour and a half after the ice burg struck, the SOS signal was sent.

As the Titanic sank, the passengers planed savior ship, was waiting just over the horizon.

Thousands died, The White Star Line received their 'full' insurance payout. Unfortunately for them due to the ice Burg, a majority of the money went to the families of those who died.

But,

The White Star Line still had their Titanic, sailing around as the Olympic making them money.

Sources? Any reports from the workers? Any proof of the other ship sailing out empty?

And how would they have explained they had a ship accidentally waiting there when it sunk? Wouldn't they get a horrible reputation if one of their ships sunk and thus have problems getting new passengers?

The story sounds like a lie to me, but meh.

No offence intended, but if you're going to post a controversial and somewhat far-fetched conspiracy theory on a forum, you really should provide your own sources, not make people crawl through a Google search. Especially as many of the links brought up by that search dismiss the theory to a satisfactory degree, e.g. http://www.shipwreckcentral.com/swc_titanic_print.htm

http://olympic.txc.net.au/OlympicTitanicTheTruthBehindTheConspiracy/index1.htmlThis theory, however, does not address how the White Star Line could successfully and secretly switch these two huge ships despite the presence of thousands of Harland & Wolff employees and, as with most conspiracies, does not hold up well to technical scrutiny.

Taken from the first link you provided... :p

It's a documentary that was aired on Sky One some time back.

The documentary suggests how the switches could have happened / has witness testimonies / photographic evidence of the modifcations of the ships.

The problem is the documentry completely blows the whole thing out of the water because when they went down to see titanic they found parts with the Titanic's registry number on and not Olympics.

It's definately plausable though, but you need to see the documentry.
