I was browsing my daily feed of car videos on the this website, and came across a pretty good quality movie from the last tsunami.. Man, You DO NOT want to be there.. :uhoh:
another one.. I can't believe people are actually enjoying taping that.. :vikki: those 2 people on the beach mustve been crushed to death..
Like the guy n the backgorund said:
yeah.. People are SO underestimating the sheer force of such a wave... idiots.. :cort:
Hopefully people finally learn to respect the natural power.
Yeah, they're the reason why I'm never going to Indonesia. I saw a 15 minute video on youtube showing the 2004 tsunami, what was so amazing about it is that when a tsunami is about to hit, there's a reverse wave which carries the water about a mile back from the shore, then it surges back...
So if you're ever holidaying on a beach in southeast Asia, as soon as the water starts to move backwards then run like fuck. It's just a terrible shame that people actually stand and watch, maybe they wouldn't if they knew the signs.
Here it is, in case you're interested. Might be abit graphic for some, but not too much.
Ive been there twice..
Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia.. multiple times..
but those waves are fairly easy to spot, its just those idiot standing at the beach:
'oh look, the water is retracting!'
' wow, lets tape that big wave!'
The second video of yours Jack, after the first wave hit, it just filled up the beach a little, then there were still people down there (next to the wall) and another wave came in, them people must have been killed, if not knocked unconscious. There was also talk of this girl who knew the signs, she helped save peoples lives (was awareded for it too)
They should be given some sort of leaflet detailing the signs at the airport or something. Though that would probably turn alot of people off. I can't believe the stupidity of some, standing and watching as the ocean retracts into a wall of water about a mile out. Where the hell do they expect the water to go? Jesus. Just common sense, unless you think there's a plughole or something. The people who stopped to film it where asking for it. It's the wee children who had no idea what was going on that I feel for, which you can see in the 15 minute clip. :(

Don't get me wrong, I'd run away, but i wouldn't hesitate to try and videotape it, too. If I thought I was in a relatively safe place, I'd stay there and keep rolling, too.
yeah only if they knew, plus if they knew it would get worst, like in that video were they backed up but then stopped when it didnt look like the water was coming anymore when infact a whole lot more was on the way
