Congress Reaps Pizza Harvest « NotionsCapital

Tuesday, by act of Congress, pizza was declared a vegetable. The Spending Bill before our elected officials contained an Agriculture Department provision recognizing that school kids are dangerously obese, and that subsidizing school lunches of frozen pizza and french fries is unwise and unhealthy. The Congressional response: a slice of pizza = a serving of vegetables.

The American Frozen Food Institute spent over $5 million convincing Congress to protect their juicy $11 billion annual school lunch harvest from the pestilence of nutritional common sense, and they prevailed. Result: kids will still eat government-subsidized carbs, fat, and salt, and Big Food will get fatter, too.

In other farm news, Monsanto announced that Roundup-Ready Pizza Seeds will be available in time for spring planting, and February pizza crop futures rose at the Chicago Board of Trade after predictions of increased Super Bowl party demand.

Yeah.... kinda like... "what's the point of life anymore?" This latest and greatest from Congress has convinced me that life is pretty much pointless, if we are dumb enough to elect leaders that pull this shit, and keep getting away with it.

O.o really I thought it was all fiber! Looks like cardboard, tastes like cardboard, must be cardboard!

Conclusion: Greased cardboard, now a vegetable!

Clearly. I'm once again amazed at the stupidity and corruption of our government. These are kids for Thor's sake! Politicians should be caring more about their health than how much money corporations can make. It's just money to them.

So, if it's peperoni, does that count as a serving of meat? Also, if it's peperoni, what part of it is a vegetable? There's peperoni, a meat. Cheese and bread make up the rest of it, neither of which fall in the (old school) vegetable group. I'm not sure what that gay wheel thing Obama and Co came up with, but I'm pretty sure even that doesn't label peperoni, cheese, or bread as a vegetable.

Only the tomato sauce under any retarded mindset would be considered a vegetable. It's a byproduct of a vegetable and processed paste, not a vegetable! It's not healthy per say either.

Tomatoes are fruits though Raptor, so tomato sauce is more like a smoothie. =p

I like Pizza though, maybe instead of corn fields we'll have pizza fields.

Why do you all sound shocked? It's called congress, not progress. =p
