Like you, I want to be in the USAF as a CRO or Combat Pilot. RoamingEast was a CWT and is going in to the Army as a WO, IIRC. Talk to him if you need any help.

What's your GPA? That's one branch of the service you have to be pretty smart to get through.

I think he's at WOCS right now.

I already know i DONT want to be a pilot (i get motion sick way to easy for that) but i also dont want to just sit in an office reading email all day. I'll PM Roaming east guy but as of yet i havent received a tell back. Im in pretty good shape. did cross country in highschool and im still active now. no way good enough for all those special forces things like PJ's though.

If you want to be on the ground, what about the Air Force appeals to you? Why not the Army or Marines?

Accommodation to be honest. They say the USAF has the better bases, better housing, better equipment and better pay. I'm not sure if im cut out for all that Army stuff with a rifle and foxholes and stuff. I just want to do some time and if i like it, stay, and if not, at least get trained in something that can carry over to a good career outside the military.

The pay is the same across the military, same with benefits. Equipment for the ground pounders is as good as it is in the Army, but certainly not better. The last barracks I was in had two bedrooms, a kitchen/dining room, and your own bathroom and shower area.

Most bases have barracks like that now. And if they don't right now, then they are being constructed.

But hey, if you want to be a cable repair man in camo, go right ahead.

Officer Careers - Opportunities in the United States Air Force - AirForce.com

Given you're in college, I would assume you would want to become an Officer.

However, from what it sounds like the Air Force may not be what you want to look into. If you're not about flying, then you're going to be a pencil pusher. The officer jobs around the planes that would be the "middle ground" between flying and being a desk jockey I believe require that you were at least a pilot at one time so you have experience with the craft you're working with.

Of course, I'm only talking about jobs that are specific to the Air Force. You could join their divisions that have mirrors in other branches like Intelligence, JAG, etc..

How about you tell us what your interests are and we could find some ideas for you?
