Howdy, just read this, and please post feedback, we really need the backing from everyone, for it work, read please.

OK, this might take a while to fully explain, so i may well leave some details for other post etc, Im 29, and live in North East UK, the first film i remeber seeing was star wars, around about 3-4years old, and was instantly obsessed with lightsabers So.....many years later, i have been trying to devise a game based on star wars, the game will be very similar to fencing (if you've never fenced, check it out to see what i mean) but instead of being on a narrow piste like fencing, and just moving in a straight line back and forth, it will be set in an arena type venue, with matted floor (to make jumping and falling over safer etc) for now, lets asume its one on one, i'll discuss multiple participants later, so, one jedi v's one sith, each will wear a kind of spandex catsuit (dont panick, no one will see this suit) the catsuit has very thin, felxible wires that go down each limb (arms n legs) and also in a web type fashion across the torso and back, these wires are conected to a small power pack and will react to a relativley hard strike from the saber, which will then register the hit on a score board (ie one hit to torso, one hit to left leg etc) this principle is based very closley to the scoring system in fencing. over this suit is the reguler jedi-sith outfit, notice in the films how the costumes are quite padded around the shoulders and arms, and have very loose flexible pants and sleeves etc, i think they would provide enough protection from any major harm, but just like in fencing, a thwak to the back with a saber is gonna hurt a little, but trust me, ive been hit FULL force with aforce fx saber, and it didnt really hurt without padding, so i reckon it will be ok. The biggest costume issue im having at the moment is headgear, my two thoughts currently are: 1. a softish hat with cheekprotectors and chip strap, a little like lukes hat on endor, and adding goggles OR 2. jedi/sith robe where the hood is kinda strapped on to the head, so it doesnt fall down, but just looks like the regular hoods for jedi / sith The lightsabers......ive looked at both force-fx sabers, and praks sabers (if you havent seen em, search on net and check em out) im kinda torn between the two, the force fx blade looks the right thickness as movies, but doesnt look so good unless its quite dark, and the blades would need some work to make sure they wouldnt break, where as the parks blades are very very thin, and dont look as good, but are much harder and the light looks better in bright conditions, the other thing with parks is that you can customise your own, hmmmmmmmmm, opinions???? ill let this info digest for now, and ill add more again soon, there is a lot more in the final plan, like rules (making sure a martial arts expert of 23 doesnt fight a small fat 12 year old etc) gunners, huge sets like DOTF etc, a jedi council, but id like responses to the idea, and please feel free to ask/say anything. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME PEOPLE, AND PLEASE REMEMBER, THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED, SO GET AS MANY FRIENDS ETC TO PUT THEIR POINT FORWARD, AND WE COULD ALL BE SABERING SOON. cool.gifcool.gif

The info may/will change after a time, so please post feeback :):cya: Please delete this thread, allready psoted it once =/ sry

Pretty cool. I like Star Wars, but since the third one came out, the thrill is kind of gone.

No, I do not want to learn to saber fight like in the movies. I want to learn the real thing. All that twirling crap is just stupid.

No, sorry, I draw a very hard line between movie and reality. ESPECIALLY with Star Wars. I love the movies, but don't expect to see me trying to saber fight.

Yeah, I'd rather learn how to actually swordfight instead of learning how to fight with a "lightsaber".

I actually took a fencing class (It was free and offered by the elementary school I went to). It's a lot more fun to actually know what you are doing instead of dancing about as if you were on fire and trying to swat flies away.
