Just a heads up for the UK folks, however this craze may spread (if not already) to other countries.

ALL CAR OWNERS AND CAR DRIVERS, PLEASE READ

(originated from Alliance Cornhill insurance)

Be aware of a new car-jacking scheme. You walk across the car park, unlock your car and get inside, lock the doors, start the engine and select reverse. You look into the rear-view mirror to back out of your parking space and notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift back into park or neutral, unlock the doors and get out to remove the paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view.

When you reach the back of your car the car-jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. Your engine was running and you would have left your handbag or briefcase in the car.

APART FROM NICKING ANYTHING OF VALUE, THEY MIGHT FIND YOUR ADDRESS AND THEY ALREADY HAVE YOUR KEYS! Remember, if you see your rear view blocked like this just drive away and remove the paper later ! It is stuck to your window!

THIS SCAM IS HAPPENING IN LONDON RIGHT NOW AND WILL SURELY SPREAD TO OTHER AREAS Be thankful that you read this email.and forward it to friends and family especially to women! JUST BE AWARE AND TAKE CARE. IT WILL SOON ARRIVE IN YOUR AREA.

wow. You would like US cirminals would come up with something like this:n0e: It is a pretty inventive, but bad scheme to take your car.

Hope none of you people over in the Uk get your cars stolen like this.

Probably has been done, however, if this was one of those things from an e-mail, did it by any chance have 'send this to X number of people, or have bad luck for X number of years'? Although these e-mails (can) have a good point - like there was one a while abo about HIV needles being left in Cinema seats, although it is News, people really don't need to go about fowarding it to everyone as at some point, that person is going to get the news themselves. It's a matter of attention seeking. Note though, this is not directed at you, just the original sender of the actual 'e-mail'

Even if it was a chain email, its sound advice. You dont have paper on the back windshield too often by accident...

I know that, don't worry :) - I was simply stating a point.

sounds like a clever scheme, although I'd probably write something to really confuse the driver, like "You are a jelly hedge" or something. It'll probably give you a few more seconds head start as the bloke reads and re-reads your message with annoyed curiosity. then er. write PWNED!! on the back. heh

Never heard of it, I'm sure it would be in the newspaper. Pretty likely an attempt at an other chain email.

Besides during driving lessons you will learn to parc your car back first (nose will point out onto the road), this because you can oversee a much greater areas and makes it much more easily to drive off without suprising anybody.

Luckily I always turn my car off if I get out of it. Though I don't know that anyone would want my car with the big scrape I put in the side of it. :lookaround:
