Also, if worse comes to worse and you do need to get glasses, why not try contacts instead?

Well it will probably do more harm to your eyes, but if you REALLY want to play and have bad vision, you could always move your monitor closer.

I've got a perfect eyesight from the last medical examination from April (1,6 left and 1,6 right) and I've been playing computer a lot.

Probably the most important thing is that you don't need a big monitor that is close. 17/19" is enough, a big monitor really makes your eyes tired (atleast from my experience after playing just 2 hours on friend's place). Keep a good distance to the monitor as well.

Keep breaks from computing once a while, go out. Look at something that is far away and concentrate on it for a while. It's good for your eyes to do that, not just jam at looking at an object that is 0,5 meters away from you the whole day.

Also, if you have a CRT monitor, make sure it's not running at a refresh rate lower than 85 Hz. It's really sad that some people actually run refrest rates like 60 Hz..

I hadn't used my desktop in nearly a year, and I was amazed at how quickly I got a headache after turning it on a few weeks ago. Within two minutes I had to get up and leave. It had been set at 60 Hz for a good six years before I started using my laptop exclusively.

As for some tips, I can only really think of two. Try and maintain at least a distance of three feet from the monitor, and every twenty minutes focus on a distant object for twenty seconds.
