Rikupsoni;4386408 Also, if you have a CRT monitor, make sure it's not running at a refresh rate lower than 85 Hz. It's really sad that some people actually run refrest rates like 60 Hz..

My LCD monitor doesn't have a refresh rate higher than 60. Am I going to die?

Hehe, I said CRT monitors! You know how a CRT monitor with 60 Hz feels like? Try to film it with a video camera and you see the it jumping zapzapzap every 0,5 seconds =p

Anyway, what do you think about playing in dark? I always have lights on in my room, although it could be 'cooler' to have a nice 24/7 computing room in full dark. But my eyes atleast get tired if it's dark, perhaps it's just me though.

Get some cool ass cyborg eyes.

With that said, improving eyes can be done by not straining them, such as looking at bright lights, playing a video game or watching tv in the dark.

Glasses or contacts. I choose the former, I quite like my glasses.

Well, Glasses ain't really as big as they used to be so you won't be looking like Steve Urkel. I don't find them much of a bother to wear and I actually think I look better with them. If you're worried about appearances just get contacts. They'll be a bother to put on the first few weeks, but you'll get used to them.

If you think you can save yourself, just reduce gaming hours and keep some distance between you and the screen like Riles said. Also avoid reading or gaming too long in the dark; It'll weaken your eyes further. I don't think you can improve them anyways, just keep them from deteriorating further.

If it gets to the point that you'll need corrective lenses, just get them. If you are worried, get some lasek or similar procedure done when you get older.

1. You can't really improve your eyes - if your eyesight is going down the pan, then it's going down the pan whether you like it or not - but there are steps you can take to reduce the strain on them.

2. Carrots don't do shit. They may well provide a whole host of vitamins and general nutritional goodness but the idea that they magically make your eyesight better is a myth. And no, they don't make you see better in the dark. Vitamin A can help prevent your eyes from detiriorating - making you less likely to get problems like cataracts - but carrots aren't even a particularly high source of it. You're better off eating fish, meat or eggs; and the average person eats more than enough of those kinds of things anyway.

3. If you need glasses and/or contacts then start wearing them. Straining your eyes because you refuse to wear them will just exacerbate the problem. If you're that ashamed then get some glasses to weare at home when you're on the PC and/or playing games and then don't wear them when you're out; but bear in mind that you probably will have to at some point so get used to it. It's not a big deal once you get used to them, and a lot of people actually look better with glasses on. Remember that you get to choose which ones you get and opticians normally have a huge range of frames available, so it's pretty damn easy to get a pair that looks good on you. As a rule, if you've got a round face then go for the slim rectangular types; conversely if you've got a more square face then go for more rounded glasses.

4. You don't need a bigger or smaller monitor. I don't suffer from eye strain with my 24" monitor, my 7" laptop or anything else I've ever used. What matters is the distance. You need to be at a distance where it is comfortable to use. Too near or too far and you'll strain your eyes. Remember that you can change the resolution to make things bigger if you need to. It may look fugly but it's better than eye strain.

That would be awesome!

Yep, thats about all you can do. If your vision is going to go, its not going to matter what you do, its going to happen. All you can really do is make it happen slower.

If you ever need too, get contacts. I wear contacts every day, i used to wear glasses for years, but once i got my contacts there is no way i would put a pair of glasses back on. The only time i actually wear glasses is when i'm at home and feeling to lazy to put my contacts in.

With contacts, people don't even know you have or need them unless you tell them, or unless you unlucky and one pops out in front of them or something....
