Revenge;4387933By and large the carrot thing was a rumour spread by the Brits during World War II so that the Luftwaffe would stuff their night pilots to the brim with carrots to the point that they didn't fly as well and thus could be shot down easier. Yeah, vitamin A does help maintain your eyes, but it doesn't make you see any better in the dark than a perfectly functioning set of eyes would do anyway.

I never said it would help you see in the dark.

Though I quoted you, I was speaking to everyone involved in the carrot-oriented conversation.

Also, it is likely only a few German pilots were indeed gullible enough to both believe the rumour to the extent that it makes your eyes better in the dark and to believe that eating loads just before flying would have an effect (any effect would take a while to happen). That is, if the whole thing isn't just a lie.

It's been refuted before on these boards as to whether carrots improve eyesight. My way of thinking is that if such nutrients so much as help stave off premature eye degeneration they in fact do.

crisissuit3;4386223well, im a gamer. and for being mainly a pc gamer. i can tell that my eyes are getting worse. i worry about my eye sight, since i dont want these big ass, spectacles:uhm: i also cant get lazer eye surgery since im only a minor. any suggestions?

There is one thing you can try that I've read about - exercise your eyes.

Sounds daft, but when you think about it, it's really not. You have to exercise your muscles, including your heart, you have to exercise your brain, so why not your eyes?

Pick a window. Focus on the frame, and then a couple of seconds later, focus on something distant outside. Then, a few seconds later, focus back in on the window frame. Rinse and repeat for a few minutes (or at every possible opportunity) and your eyes will feel the effects.

Metall_pingwin;4386436My LCD monitor doesn't have a refresh rate higher than 60. Am I going to die?

LCD monitors refresh the screen differently if I remember correctly and set at 60hz for the native resolution. I'm sure you can manually adjust it if you know how, but really, on a LCD refresh rate doesn't matter unless you use vsync in the application.

but as was stated, carrots are good for eyesight.

As for the PC, I think 3 feet from the monitor is a little far. I'd say keep a distance from the monitor in relation to it's size. if it's a 19" monitor, try to keep your eyes at least 19" away.

(i think)
i believe carrots dont fix your eyesight, they just make them more durable
There is one thing you can try that I've read about - exercise your eyes. I am not going to endorse illegal drugs, but my eyesight has improved slowly through the years from smoking pot.

In grade school I had glasses and when I hit JR. High, my prescription got stronger since my eyes got worse. I also started smoking pot with my friends at that time. By time I got to High School, my eyes got slightly better after 3 years. I got an even weaker prescription after High School and by time I hit 30 years of age, I passed the eye exam for my license without my glasses. I renewed my license 4 years later and I could read every line on the projector.

Right now, I have perfect vision and I will smoke to that!
