As the title says: why are you posting on this forum? what drives you?
I know from my self, that in the very start I did post here for the lack of anything else to do, sure I had a 50-70 hour work week, but Gamingforums.com became place to chill out, away from work and such.
But as the time progress I find it harder to keep in touch with this very forum that gave me so much when I was a silly young lad.
How do you guys feel about all this internet forum thingy ?

I came here back in 06 because I wanted to mod. ST: Armada to be precice. GF was my first real stab at interacting with an internet community... From there I rattled around a bit in the Pub / General discussion/ Spamville... After a while I grew less and less interested in gaming and eventually stopped coming here / posting not long after Break took over. Thats a coincidence. Im not protesting about anything.
End of last year I found myself with some spare time and slowly slowly started posting here again. Mainly in the Spam forum. Mainly for shits and giggles. I love this place and am sad to see that so many of the people I knew from a couple years back have vanished. Still some great guys here, though.
I also agree that I interact with the place in a different way now that I am older.

I joined up back in 2003 to ask some questions about modding ships into Armada 2. I stuck around when I discovered the other forums and enjoyed debating in the pub. As for what I'm doing here at the moment - well, my participation in online forums is generally waning, but I'll probably be around as long as the forum is. At the end of the day it doesn't require a huge investment of time, and there's still interesting conversation from time to time. Certainly more so than one tends to get IRL.
Hnn, 12 years. I've been around here in one capacity or another almost half my life. =p

Internet forums are a great and powerful communications technology. Unfortunately they're not the best technology for sorting information according to the interests that people have. Neither's something like Reddit best for sorting conversations according to substantive content. But there is a trade off there between interest and nature of content - and in many ways I feel that things like Reddit have eaten forum's lunch.
We're in the middle of a stage where a large majority of online discussion doesn't interest me.... And either we're going to see another technology that comes after Reddit and hopefully addresses some of it's shortcomings or in five or ten years I doubt I'll have a publicly visible online presence at all.
Honestly, there have been a lot of changes to the internet - many of them not for the better in my opinion. Part of that's tied to easily seen publicly available tools for creating websites having gotten worse. Part of it's due to the changing demographics that are around due to social media, and part of it's due to trade-offs inherent in certain technological choices....
Forums are, one way or the other, a transitional technology - in the form that this forum is in at least - and what is to come after could be excellent or utter crap. Time will tell, as they say.

I love everyone here. <3
Almost everyone, at least.

I found this place after getting Star Trek Elite Force and finding the expansion pack serial key didn't work. So I Googled about it and found a thread here. Turns out they all had a misprint and one of the numbers was wrong.
Anyway I stuck around, made a few mods and inexplicably I'm still here.
I guess I just like it here.

I came because of Knights of the Old Republic mods. I lurked the Forums for more than a year before I finally made an account.
As for now, the place still just doesn't seem to get old.
