Very simple; what do you want to do for a career when you are an adult and why? And for our older members, what is your career field and why?
Me: I want to do two things. I want to be an officer in the USAF, preferably a Combat Rescue Officer with Air Force Pararescue.
My grandfather was an officer in the USAARC, USAAF and USAF. During WWII he flew The Hump and crash landed in the Burmese jungle. One of the people on board was Eric Sevareid. Don Flickinger, who some might consider a father of Air Force Pararescue, parachuted in to escort my grandfather and his party out. That is the biggest reason for why I want to be a AF PJ.
Second, I want to be a doctor. Not really sure what specialty (I am 16 so I have a LOT of time to think about it) But, I am sort of leaning towards Pediatric Pulmonology.

Right now, I'm a Meteorology Graduate Student at Penn State University. I'm in the field that I want to be in, but not at the level I want to be at yet (at a master's level, but want a Ph.D). After I finally get out of school with my doctorate, I'm going to do research in the field of lightning.
The reason I'm a weather freak because I was in a hurricane at age 5 (Hugo, Sept. 20, 1989). Being in that hurricane solidified my love of severe weather and my choice to be a meteorologist.

Well I'm doing my last year of A levels and am applying to go to university next year. At university I am hoping to do a mathematics degree as I enjoy the subject and it is my strong point.
Career wise I'm not too sure. Maths opens up quite a wide range of areas so thats a bonus but currently I'm on the edge of being an accountant....may change in the future not really sure.
My 2nd choice would be a teacher. Wanted to be one for a while however the pay was what put me off but still it is a respectable career with nice long holidays IMO.

I want to be happy. I don't define myself by a career. Right now I'm a student - and that doesn't make me very happy. Couple of years, maybe I'll be a policeman - a military man; whatever. Life's an experience. I don't really care where I end up as long as I live according to my principles; my desires in the moment I make the decisions.

I want to work for Pixar, or Dreamworks, or even LucasArts. I'd even settle for being a computer programmer, maybe with Microsoft, or IBM, or HP, or Palm, or Blackberry, or Apple, etc...
Teaching is something I would also enjoy doing. Unfortunately, that does seem to be an either or proposition, as I live in Georgia, not California.
Currently I am a night time stocking associate at the Home Depot, who is also taking classes at a trade school for "A+ Help Desk".

I'm in my first year of a BA in History & Politics, although know that historians don't come from any uni- to be successful in the field, let's face it, you have to be ivy league, oxford or cambridge.. nor do i want to be a politician for reasons of charisma and the nature of the job. i don't have a great idea what to do, i'm currently doing what interests me, i'll see what happens. maybe do a law conversion course, although right now, it's all speculation.

Which eras and parts of the globe are you interested in?

Something in video game creation.
I'm having a hard time deciding whether to be a coder or a designer. Coders get paid more, but have to be good at math... Designers get paid less, but do more of the creative stuff...
I dunno, I might get good grades in math if I tried. :clueless:

I think I'm going to be the first person to say I don't have a clue. When at Basic School, I didn't particularly want to be anything, not that I remember anyway. During the late stages of High School, I was interested in Computing, and throughout College I'd thought about going into 3D Graphics and Design (inc Website Development) but I didn't have what it took.
I've since lost interest in Computing, and have no idea where I wish to take my career. What I do know is that I want to do more than working at a simple factory, doing what I currently am. I want more for myself than that, just, I'm not sure what. :uhm:
