We’d be viewed as gods for an extremely short space of time, after which they’d all be dead since we have things today to which they would have only the most limited immunity.

True. We have taken centuries to grow immune to stuff that'd kill them within weeks.

I'd say it wouldn't be long before the first peasant shouts "sorceror" and you've got a mob chasing after you.

I'd probably pick a fight with a few of the peasants.

and this is a good reason not to go back in time. time travel screw's things up, just imagine going back in the time of jesus with a couple AK's and some heavy artillery. there probably would be no bible and if there were it would say something to the effect of, and then several saints from the heavens came down and roared with there sticks of lightening, LOL...

Or just another of the number of cults that were there during the time would rise to dominance :P It just wouldn't be Jesus but Brian, some numbers might be different, but I think by large and wide the result would be similar.

Humans have an amazing ability to adapt to new ideas. Just as we accept that the new phones can take video as well as multi-megapixel sized pictures, anybody brought forward would soon acclimate to their new surroundings. The same for anybody going back; I'm reminded of a documentary about the american military occupying several backward islands during the second world war. The natives had never seen any technology, never seen another race, etc. The newcomers were looked on as gods, because since they were outside their realms of knowledge/personal experience they could be nothing else. Cargo cult - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the case would be the same if some species with advanced technology from a far away galaxy would make contact with us humans here on earth we probably would be dieing to get a hold of their technology, or come to think of it we probably already have obtained some of this technology with any of us even knowing, government conspiracy...
