Lordofthemarines;4235628what would you do if you saw someone you didnt ever know, surrounded by scumbags, and clearly being harrased and on the verge of being beaten and mugged? i waited till i saw some proof then started some kicking thats the only times my beast gets out
This point's irrelenvent, but to answer, I'd call the cops then attempt to talk them down.
This isn't the same thing as the anger humans feel towards people who hurt loved ones.
I'm afraid human compassion doesn't stretch that far, those who claim it does lie, or have nobody close so claim to 'love' all.
And I'd bet most people would do nothing, because quite simply, and brutally, humans generally do not care about those they do not love.
This is too hot, should just be closed the thread was derailed long ago. What started as a "do you ever blow up threaD" turned into a lecture about my sister and I , a relationship you all know little about no matter how I express the very meager evidence here. Then it became a thread arguing about my example....all and all it failed and should be closed. It was never meant to be a personal thread for myself but you all seemed to make it that way. I started off with a slight personal statement about my sister and the 1st few posts started with "Im going to talk abou tyou " or some BS....I was asking about you I never asked for any of your judgement or even support. That clearly was NOT the point of this thread. Some of you argue so much it makes me sick so I am not suprised you made this personal for me. Then you started callig me names 1st may I add. Saying I needed help or had serious issues again ruining this thread...then later I was called immature. All and all this thread should be closed. Who is the one who called me crazy or started picking on the first guy ? I was not . I had no personal statements against any of you...and yet you call me the violent or thristy one. If you aint got nothing nice to say dont say nothing at all. (Bambi, thumper) Especailly for all of you supposed peace warriors. It was only after when I had to defend myself that I started loosing my cool , to a failing thread and BS posts that were just out to get me not at all about the topic of the damn thread.
captaindeadman;4235636Re-reading that, you suggesting it's better to hang people you care about out to dry? Whilst it's true that she might still happen regardless of how protective he is, you can't tell him to not care and to not help pick up the pieces. Basic human mentallity is to look after those you love. And this was, at no stage, anything to do with his sisters independence.
Okay, so let's end that chapter and pretend those posts don't exist, yes?
To get the thread back on topic, here's my view on the matter:
"To gain a hundred victories in a hundred battles, is not the highest excellence. To subjugate the enemy without doing battle, is the highest excellence."
Protecting what you believe in, and fighting for what you believe in, are two very different things.
Conflict is wasteful, to put it simply. Two nations going to war waste their resources and the lives of their people. Two individuals having a drunken brawl in a bar are damaging themselves, and for what? Fighting, unless absolutely necessary, is always pointless.
In just about any situation, there are other options to fighting. One just has to release their sense of precedent and think outside the box, looking at the situation from as many angles as they can rather than relying on their own conventional perceptions.
Regardless of situation, my personal stance is that I just won't pull that proverbial trigger unless it's the only option I have left.
That's not to say one shouldn't be prepared to resort to conflict, nor does it mean one should hesitate when the time comes. All I'm trying to say is that conflict should be the last resort.
I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
If you aint got nothing nice to say dont say nothing at all. (Bambi, thumper)
I second that. Also I agree with Kouen on that one, I think.
[quote=Kouen;4235664]In just about any situation, there are other options to fighting. One just has to release their sense of precedent and think outside the box, looking at the situation from as many angles as they can rather than relying on their own conventional perceptions. Which is exactly what most people seem unable to do, look at an argument from another's perspective AND think about how that might change theirs. Rather than blatently ignore the opposition's argument. I know that it's a tad off topic but i've been wanting to say that for years to someone, quite badly. On topic..... When you say "last resort", to what degree? Would your peaceful solution be a little thing, "I really think that that would be a rather bad idea. Pray, don't persist." and then commence the attack or maybe try to reason, i mean actually reason with the other person(s), before violence is unaviodable. Sometimes i think that people think that reasoning is just a few words before a fight.
