This may be a stupid question but I was thinking. Since the U.S. has the flag on the moon, does it make it that we own the moon?
belongs to the US.... cant you people keep your hands off anything! Acctually during the 70's I think people could acctually buy lots of land on the moon so, it really belongs (legally speaking) to the people who bought land there which would be from all over the world. now i'm going to stab an Australian flag into the white house and move in :lookaround:

It belongs to whoever wants it and is willing to defend it as their territory.
I'm not sure, but didn't they declare that at this point no one country could own the moon or something, I think?
It belongs to no one. The US has no presence to back up the claim, not that the claim was ever made. The Pacific Ocean is a perfect example of this. In 1513, Balboa claimed the Pacific Ocean and all lands that it touched in the name of Spain. Spain obviously never maintained, or ever held possession, of either. Besides, the American flag isn't the only one on the moon. The crew of Apollo 15 planted the flag of the University of Michigan on the Moon in 1971.

Chuck Norris owns the moon
Wait people were able to buy land on the moon back them??!??
I doubt that. Since no one owns the moon, the land could not be bought from anyone. That would mean that you'd have to get recognition from multiple governments that whatever spot on the moon belongs to you, and the only good way to do that is to physically be their and claim it. Then again, maybe no one cared enough to bother with the formalities since the chances of anyone actually making use of land on the moon or getting there within their lifetime was pretty slim.
I didn't make it!
Nobody ownes the moon. Are you dumb fuck, or did you not take your pills today? No offense, but seriously. You guys are cold.:deal:
The moon is like Antartica....NO ONE OWNS IT!
