After reading various threads such as http://forums.filefront.com/general-discussion/391261-wrong-make-fun-ppl-who-post-pictures-internet.html, http://forums.filefront.com/spam-forum/391245-awesome-hom-avatars.html and http://forums.filefront.com/general-discussion/389384-im-sorry.html. I have been asking some people, and myself "Why are people so easy offended on the internet" or "Why do people even care?" and stuff. These threads have shown me that various people(geeks) accaualty take this stuff to heart on the interwebs where it doesn't matter, that whole thing with the hom avatars was a crock of bullshit anyway. So why? Why must we be such emo geeks where it isn't nesscary at all?

because for many people the difference of what they see on the internet and what goes on in "reality" isn't so different. And these people are appalled amazed and downtrodden by those who have either gotten beyond that stage or are merely abusing the internet's anonymising feature.

If people see someone not liking what they like, they're going to defend it. No matter how many people hate whatever they like, they will still be that hardened fan boy. Take the Dungeon Siege movie. Everyone hated it. There will always be ONE person to like it, to the point of turning into a stubborn donkey.

Some people decide to treat the internet as real human interaction, because it is clearly real (to a degree), and it is human interaction. some people believe that the internet interactions don't matter. the problem comes from the collision of mindsets, which everyone knows results in arguments and so on.

Yeah, that seems about right. Just as long as no one goes out and does what that 13-year-old girl did a few months back and blow her brains out.

I’ll try. Believe it was a feud between two girls who were friends. Anyway, the mom of one of the girls decided to pose as a boy interested in the other girl only to crush her big time. The mom last I heard was found guilty on several Internet/child abuse charges and sentenced to many moons in prison. Feds. tracked the IP address back to the other girl and her mom admitted to what she had done. EDIT:MySpace fraudster indicted in teen's suicide • The Register This was the latest link I could find on the topic. My bad though, it appears the girl hung herself actually.

Yeah yeah, how about you get your parents to tell everyone it's not true, file charges against the boy, find out that he isn't real, trace it back to the mom, and have her arrested. Not much to kill yourself over.

True, but we all know some handle rejection better than others. But to be fair it was an impressionable 13-year-old who apparently had some emotional issues. The whole situation could have been adverted and a young lady could still be alive if the mom hadn’t acted like an asshat. Now two families lives are ruined.
