So over the past weekend the US had a winter blast move through, overshadowing the one that occurred on Thanksgiving. You had your usual accidents occur but it also extended into parts of the south which aren't usually used to dealing with winter conditions. Over here, much of the area was shut down when it first came through, though over the weekend they gradually improved it.

And of course those living in cushy suburbs find out the hard way why ice on roofs is a problem

I wish it was snow, this is just cruddy ice. I've only experienced real snow once in my life.

Just you wait, one day you'll get a Texas-style heat wave and melt, then it'll be our turn to laugh.

Surprisingly, Dallas, Texas wasn't that bad last time I went in August of...umm...however long ago it was. I think the hottest it got was maybe 87oF.

We currently have about 8 inches of fluffy snow here in Eugene Oregon, going on the fourth consecutive day with no changes. Gonna have to walk to my final tomorrow to avoid splatting myself on the streets. :/

We also had a record low of -12 degrees Fahrenheit a couple days ago.

There's been talk about the storm Sven here. It struck the Swedish west coast pretty hard, killing a few, but Stockholm just had a few cm snow... Which is boring. I frankly envy you and your heathen American nations for having snow before us in the north.

It all missed us. No snow here. Just rain and chill.

Getting to finals through a bunch of snow, never much fun. A few years ago, back when I was in university, I had a final on a Sunday where the city of Ottawa was expecting a lot of snowfall. There was already 6 inches of heavy snow on the ground when I got to campus, and after the 3-hour exam, almost another foot of snow had fallen. I commuted by bus at the time and I could only manage to get half-way home because the bus to my neighbourhood had been cancelled (which my fellow commuters and I only realized after waiting at the bus stop for over an hour). At this point it was about 5-6pm and I ended up walking about 5-6 km home through snow almost up to my knees.

Took me more than an hour to walk home, and when I finally got home I had to shovel a good 2-feet of heavy snow off the driveway. So, I ate a quick dinner, put about 8-9 beers in the snowbank and spent the next 2 hours shoveling snow and getting drunk. All in all, it wasn't the worst birthday.

Anyways, I currently live outside Toronto and we barely have any snow, but we don't normally get a ton of snow because of the lake (it seems to dump most of what we should get onto New York state).
