So, I'm no longer tied to an academic schedule, but I know plenty of you lot are. Are any of you planning to do anything interesting over your winter break? Has it already ended, or will it end soon? Are you one of the lucky bastards who'll get to spend an entire month on vacation, and use that time to go do something kickass? Or did you get maybe Dec 24-25 off, and were back in class before the New Year?

My girlfriend and I went to another city in Alaska called Fairbanks (6 - 7 hour drive) for a few days. It got down to -40° C/F (it's the same temp in both for those who don't know). I was very proud of my car for starting without being plugged in. It was awesome. We went to Chena Hotsprings as well and sat in turbohot hotsprings New Years night to watch the fireworks display put on by the resort. I managed to get a deal on a set of conga drums there also. I got them for one third of the price they normally would cost.

Aside from that, lots of skiing, some snow shoeing, practicing building quincies (dug out snow domes), working, and chilling with friends and my girlfriend a shit load.

What have others been up to?

What's the difference between Quincies and igloos? Does the quincy rely primarily/wholly on digging, as opposed to piling up/stacking of igloos?

To be honest, I'm not fully sure. What I would say from building quincies but not building igloos before but seeing their pictures is that a quincy is made of just piled up snow while an igloo is made of blocks of ice. That's all I can imagine.

Wow, not many people seem to have much interesting going on this break, eh? Haha.
