It seems to be cold all year round so winter is never anything new to me.

Last year for example, there was a heavy snowfall. Most people would get the time off work when that happens. Not me though. It took me an hour to wade through thick snow to get to work, only for me to find out when I get there that staff were supposedly called and asked to come in early.

I received no such call.

Needless to say, I came up with many new "colorful" words that day, lol. :D

Still received full pay though since the person who was supposed to call me screwed up.

I'm guessing your UK from the heavy snowfall comment

if so-IT WAS SO GOOD. I got so many days off school etc. Gutted for you:p I hope it's the same this year but I doubt it, it was rare in the first place.

Destroyer25;5427153I'm excited for Winter, I hope Toronto gets lots of snow, can't wait for the snowball fights!

... Like the time Mayor Mel called in the army :lulz:

I grew up a little east of Toronto, and the snowfall was usually pretty weak because of the effect of the lake, but if you drove only 10-15 minutes north there would be tons of snow. I sometimes laugh at the people in the GTA who have snow-blowers (like my dad) and bitch about the feeble amount of snow because its never really that bad compared to the rest of the country.

At the moment I'm living in Ottawa and last year's snowfall was relatively pathetic, but it was pretty damn cold. I remember the wind being a lot worse than the snow because the city buses went on strike and I had to walk over an hour to get to class.

The year before last (or the one before that) was the second heaviest snowfall in city history with more than 430cm (about 170 inches) of snow falling on the city, missing the record by a mere 12 centimetres. I shoveled the driveway that winter and it was just brutal on my back and sometimes took several hours to finish (and its not a big driveway). There were so many huge single-day or overnight snowfalls that the buses sometimes couldn't make it into certain neighbourhoods or couldn't run at all.

I remember mid-December I had a final exam on a Sunday and it really started to come down just before I began writing the 3-hour exam. By the time I was finished writing, there was several feet of snow on the ground, many roads were not plowed and thus closed and I had to walk most of the way home (which took 2-3 hours, without boots), and then I had to shovel the driveway (which took me several hours more to complete).

In all, I love winter, so much better than those 30-40°C summers I've spent working in a warehouse with no A/C and only a few dinky fans where the temperature inside is never below 30°C (about 86°F).
