I searched all over google and this forum, and no-one seems to have asked this so here it goes.
I installed GTA-IV, and patched the game manually up to version 1.0.3. Then the notorious GFW update loop started happening in-game; when running the game, I would get a notification that a GFW update is available, so I let it download, and GFW patched itself. But as soon as it did, and the game resumed, it told me there's a GFW update available again. And the loop went on.
After getting annoyed about 4 or 5 times by that, I downloaded the GFW patch from their website and tried to update it manually. However when the patch is run, the installation wizard for the GFW update starts screwing up; The installation progress bar fills up all the way, hangs there for a second, then falls back to the start and fills up again. It loops like this for ever.
Any ideas on how to work around this? I haven't even played the game yet.
It seems that every frickin game you buy these days has to be tweeked for frickin hours or days, and considerable research has to be done before you can even play it!?! It's ridiculous.
Anyway, thanks for any help.
