I've created this thread to see what others think of the game, both likes and dislikes. Perhaps this will help others in their decision to buy the game or perhaps it will allow us to gripe and complain LOL

My first gripe!! I can't stand the soundtrack. To much rap/techno remix.

As much as I love the series, I really don't care until I see it on PC. I just prefer gaming on the PC. Modding reasons, really.

As far as the soundtrack, I've always enjoyed the versatility GTA had, myself.

Modding I understand, but to each their own. IMHO, I prefer console. I use my comp purely for school/work.

as for the radio station, I'm not a nub here :p. I've owned/played every single GTA ever made; I understand you can change the radio. I'm talking about the special edition's CD soundtrack: Almost all the songs were rap, techno, or remixed techno rap. There was only one rock-like song on it.

I love consoles, I just feel more comfortable behind a PC.

That and being an older member of FileFront, I'm fond of modding stuff. :p

Yeah the modding is where my interest lay as well. As for radio stations, as with previous pc ports of the series, the game allows you to listen to your own mp3's instead of the game tunes with an additional "blank station. In SA the first thing I always did after jacking a car, provided I wasn't being chased, was switch it the radio to "user tracks".

(Sev)I just prefer gaming on the PC. Modding reasons, really.

I don't think I've ever used a mod for any of the GTA games. The only custom file(s) I downloaded were a few different car skins, but that's about it.

I see, "way better for PC because of mods", all the time but when the game is released I never see any decent mods. They're normally half assed pieces of work from amateur modders, and half the time they don't even work properly. No offense to modders, I mean I know it's hard work and it's nice to see you modding for games and all.

That's just me though but I end up owning both versions sooner or later. It's not for the modding though, just that I like PC gaming as I do console gaming. I just like gaming in general. ;)

No dislikes yet for me, game wise and I've put in about 20 hours so far. Great game. :)

I take it you’ve never heard of ENBSeries?

High quality real time reflections Highly adjustable Bloom Total control over shadows Depth of field SSAO Game-wide Palette Based Colors And much more.

It’s out for VC and SA, and when used in conjunction with user created vehicles, peds, and maps it brings the game to new heights. All in all, it is an amazing piece of work, breathing loads of life into otherwise dated games.

Here’s a very tiny sample:

Spoiler: Show

reflectionsbug2.jpg24819f1d0c383cd32e892e2145b5a.jpgc42ed4fb0487e5d365f2c1029f9f7.jpge10df728ac76d1601289aef37fc8d.jpg9d3a026e86173b3e65910e2f52aa6.jpgeb791f18f768230045e8b2b80861f.jpg

And the official site here: ENB Series Home

Since this mod was released. I've seen the SA mutliplayer crowds nearly double.

If this is what modders can do with an the previous games. I can't wait to see what they can do with GTA4.

Personally I don't like that thing - car aren't mirrors.

The only time they reflect that well is either fresh out of a show room on the owner is obsessive about cleaning it, ie - every 24hrs.

Also, their website makes my eyes bleed.

Aye and the reflections aren't mirrors, they just can be by choice. None of the mod features in the ENBSeries are ON, or OFF only. The extremes above are just how those individual users set theirs up. The mod comes with a plethora of options to fine tune all of the effects to be either none existent, to very subtle, to so over done it's silly. All in all, there are around 80+ tuning options for the mods features, with no one feature required to be on or off. Full customization in every sense of the word. After tuning with the wide range of options, it's possible to have a completely unique looking game.

By the looks of the images above, they have the reflections on extreme, and zero bump mapping. Still an improvement over the original. I also see some major bloom-ness on those last ones. Personally they're not to my tastes either, and my own games are not so "overly" done, but it's still much more then the original game was.

As for the website of the author, I'd rather see a one man show with a shit site and killer product, then a glamorous site, with screen shots of an unavailable download.

I can count how many mod projects I've seen where most of the effort is in the hype of the mod, then actually in the mod itself.
