I've been trying to decide whether I should get GTA IV retail or on STEAM.

I already own Vice City, so I really don't need the pre-order bonus on STEAM, though I do like the convenience of STEAM and how it works.

I've been leaning towards Retail, just so I can have the hard copy.

I think I'm going to get it on Steam. I just love the system of being able to download it on any computer with my account.

I really wish there were a way to unlock retail versions of games on Steam to use the full Steam fuctionality, like CoD4.

I think I may get it on STEAM after all, it'll save me the trip to the store (it comes out December 3rd, which is during hunting deer season) and I won't have to worry about it.

I just hope the STEAM version doesn't screw up the game for modding. Some games through STEAM don't really like mods as much as their RETAIL counterparts

Wait, are you afraid you'll get shot? Cause... That's kind of cool.

I would probably head towards the Steam version. The Idea of getting to play GTA anywhere you've got a computer is a nice one. And I doubt you'l want to carry the CD around with you.

I recommend you look into security measure the game will employ. If few, you could get the retail copy with resale in mind. However if it's not your cup of tea, I personally don't consider GTA IV anything epic enough to warrant a physical copy.

No, cuz I'll be out in the woods hunting and won't have time to drive 30 miles to the nearest store that would sell it.

I'm leaning towards Steam as well.

Although that has more to do with the fact retail customers are being treated like criminals at the moment. What with this newest DRM limiting the amount of installs a retail user can have.

I don't know if GTAIV is going to include this or not, but just about everything else I've bought off the shelf (as opposed to Steam) lately has done. I don't know about you, but in ten years time I'd still like to be able to play a game I forked out £40 for.

Rather than owning a £40 disk that refuses to install because it has done so more than three times in the past.

There is a very good chance that whatever DRM the retail has, STEAM will have the same thing.
