Whats up with everyone whining and complaining about GTA IV? on Gamefaqs there are TONS of topics complaining about it. This has to be the BEST GTA yet, and for these reasons. Largest amount of terrain yet. Most realistic AI yet (and the most dynamic yet) in any GTA game. YOU CAN CLIMB OVER OBSTACLES NOW! Ragdoll mixed with animations so now there are thousands of different kinds of reactions to anything you do to the NPC's. Realistic physics. Tons of different girlfriends and just friends which you can take to go boating, racing, bowling, drinking, to strip clubs, out to eat, helicopter rides, play darts with, go to a show with, or to just ask for a job. Cellphones and computers are now a big part of the game. A new cover system that works with practicaly ANYthing whatsoever, be it barrels, a small steel column, or even a car, you can use almost anything as cover. I mean, i could keep going on and on with little addons to the games theme, gameplay, character development, and world that could stack up to the size a mountain which makes GTA IV, that much different from all the rest. I swear, sometimes i wonder if some of the people who do play this game are either just fanboys of the over rated san andreas sequel (vice city was better), or are just little kids that had there parents buy it for them and they know nothing whatsoever about the genre and only complain about the game because its not san andreas or vice city. By the way, i DO think this is better then Vice city, in fact, i think its THE BEST GTA game yet. When i look at a game, i don't look at all the things that HAVEN'T changed, i look at all the new things in it. If this game really was as different from all the other GTA's as the players wanted it to be, then i doubt it would even BE a GTA game. So, stop bitchin, or ill rip your throat out.

I think the main reason why people don't like this game is because they took out a lot of things such as the airplanes, parachutes, car customization etc. I agree with you, this is the best GTA out there and I like it more than any of the other ones. I don't mind people complaining because people do that for every game. They expect each game to be 100% perfect, and they also want them to include stuff they want.

Considering many publications awarded GTAIV with perfect scores meant we all had our over-enthusiastic expectations of this game being almost 100% perfect in all respects.

I certainly think its the best game of the series to date. The story, graphics, combat, and AI are great and the city itself has a certain feel to it, with tons of pedestrians, tons of traffic . The new police system is great as well.

But... They did take a lot of content out that was present in previous games in the series. There's almost nothing to do with the vast amounts of money earned in the game except buy weapons, and even then its almost a drop in the barrel, akin to money situation in GTA3. One cannot purchase properties to earn them cash, as had been capable since Vice City. Personal customization has been reduced big time. I wasn't a big fan of the muscle-building or getting fat in SA, but there are only 3 different stores in GTAIV versus so many in San Andreas. Missing also was custom-radio stations. Sure music isn't a huge part of the game, but getting into any car (except Law Enforcement vehicles), there is music playing, and this game has a terrible soundtrack compared to SA. Custom radio stations wouldn't have been a hard thing to include, and it was something we all sort of expected given its inclusion in previous installments and capabilities of the current generation of consoles.

In certain areas this game was a step back in the series, and to the best of comparisons, is a revamped, high-gloss, GTA3 with an all-around better story. Its still my favourite of the series, but its no perfect 10, more like a solid 9.8 in my books.

I think just about EVERY gta game compared to san andreas has a crappy selection of music, since san andreas had 151 songs.... And in the PC version of GTA IV it will include a folder called user soundtracks and there will be a radio station called custom tracks. There's also alot more then 3 different shops, theres different clothes shops, a gun shop, a pay 'n spray where you can have your car redone to look brand new (and i think you can change the color of it), a car wash, different restuarants, you can go bowling, go to play pool, go out drinking, go out on helicopter tour rides, go power baoting, racing, to strip clubs, i don't really think content is the issue here. The ability to also buy from vendors on teh streets, go to reply to emails buddies have sent you or to do a job someone has asked of you online is also a new innovation i think. Theres the police search machine where it shows current crimes and most wanted in liberty city, searching by name is also there aswell as by photo. Public transportation is now a factor this time around as well (never really played san andreas so i dont know if it was in that) but you can take the subway, the train, a cab, and im assuming a bus, i haven't tried it yet, but i think you get the point. And plus, you gotta admit, the liberty city time square is just purely buetiful. You also have to look at it in rationality too, i mean, with a game this big, the assortments of weapons (i know there is less this time around but they just look beutiful and i don't really think we an armory), the complex AI, the different clothes, different cars, diffrent textures, how large the city is, and everything else within the game toppled onto eachother, i don't really think that leaves alot of room for much else. Plus, they're having 360 exclusive download content so you should be satisfied with what that might have to offer. So, in a sense, this is a leap forward if you look at the grand view of everything. Just look at it as a completely new, unassembled box of legos, with more peices to it.
