I'm a huge, huge fan of the Half Life series, but it is steeped in unanswered questions and mysteries, many that may never now be officially answered, given Valve have now disbanded the development team behind the franchise and have moved onto pastures new.

This mod for Half Life by modder MrGnang, however, strives to fill in some of the gaps in the lore of the first game by providing you with a totally new perspective on the events that occured during the Black Mesa incident, including those that Gordon Freeman did not himself witness.

The mod has been in development for about five years, and the mod author states it's his first real modding effort. Not bad for a first go, I have to say, the quality of this mod is amazing.

As you can see from the trailer above, this mod is wonderfully executed, and it's a great slice of additional Half-Life story to get your teeth stuck into. You'll need the latest Half-Life for Windows from Steam, but it's not compatible with Half-Life: Source or older boxed versions of the game.

So what are you waiting for? Download the mod now from our sister site, ModDB!

Soundtrack is very Bioshock-esque.
