little question dudes!
in the E3 movies and/or another few you saw a scene where u meet alyx in a catacomb like scenario and a blue tentacle thingy appeared. it catched a combine soldier and ...yeah that was mostly it.. i beat it twice now...but never saw this scene in the game ....i guess it was just promo ...but well maybe u guys know better
Beat it twice? You mean you spawned it and killed it right? Cant understand... I thought it is impossible to meet/see/fight this thing in game... By the way we got about 5 threads about this monster with 50+ replyes...
Waaagh!Beat it twice? You mean you spawned it and killed it right? Cant understand...
He means he has played HL2 twice and has yet to see a hydra. Sorry to break it to you, but you will not find it in HL2 because it is not there. However, Valve did leave some of the models in the game. The "Rising the Bar" book explains why Valve decided to take it out. Maybe we will see it in a mod/expansion...
yeah thought so...pretty sad cause i liked the idea and everything ......well w/e
It was unbeatable so they took it out. It would follow you through all the levels and could attack and kill you anywhere.
i don't know. that sounds like something to keep. i mean, the possibility of being killed arbitrarily at any moment would keep me on my toes! just don't let the blue tentacle get alyx. we all know what tentacles are about. ick.

You have a sick mind man. Wait, I do to. I'm such a hypocrite.
I was expecting that monster in the route canal or someplace else, but I'm disappointed. :uhm:
Yea there were more things that wasn´t included in the game that was in the movies. Can´t remember the name but I think it was a NPC(?) gun in the "prison" shapter. Anyway, it was a gun with a green scope and I kind of missed it.
It's just like writing a story. No matter how good an idea seems at first, it sometimes just doesn't pan out. (too deadly, breaks the pace, breaks too far from the mood of the story..etc) In the book "Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar", the game creators, where all hyped up to actually use the monster when they saw how it performed (AI-wise and visually) in testing. But when they went to incorporate it into the game, it was too hard to target and wasn't that interesting visually from the player's (eyes) perspective, since all you could really see what the "head" thing. I can imagine the head must have bob'd around a lot; making the effort of trying to kill/or fend off the thing a nightmare. It must have been hard for them to axe the idea, but ya can't hold up story development forever for one thing. Heck, it took what 6 years to finish this game as it was.
