I have HL2 on Xbox, and I'm sick of sitting around trying to find some good mods that will run on Episode One (I've found two). Smod, Fakefactory, Coastline to Atmoshpere, GMod (I would need more), and other excellant mods are so great from what they look like. But I can't get any of them. Would it be worth buying HL2 on the PC so I can use the mods? I know getting HL2 on the PC would be like getting hundreds of other games because of the thousands of mods, but is it worth spending the $30?

It's deifntly worth it as there are some great mods out there realeses and in devolpment. http://mods.moddb.com/?search=true&mod=&mf=0&game=61&type=0&order=mod_dateup&sort=desc

Besides, 30$ isn't all that much anyway, so what have you got to lose?

To be honest I don't have $30 dollars to spend. I'm too young to work, and I mainly get money from holiday's. I'm already keeping money for collage, and hoping to save money for new PC parts (that's besides the point). But I can ask the game for a present. Really, anyone in my family wouldn't understand why I would want the game again.

Yes Yes Yes and, Yes. Getting it is worth Garry's mod alone. And if youre internet is good, Counter-strike Source is a must see. And console commands can make fun cheats sometimes, and Steam adds Half-life2, the lost coast for free. And There are a whole lot of other mods out there like sourceforts and Garry's mod and Missing information and Garry's mod and exite mod and Garry's mod. But If that doesn't convince you, see this: http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/HalfLife_2_Garrys_Mod_Free_country_Map;70392

Yes. If, you buy the Game of the Year addition you get; Half Life: SOURCE Half Life 2 Half Life Lost Coast Half Life; Deathmatch SOURCE Half Life Deathmatch Counter-Strike Source I think that's good enough for £/$30. So, I would get it.

if you just want GMod, you can also wait for that.. it should be released in not too long (hopefully a month or so) for just $10... you can't play all the other mods, but it's also alot cheaper :/ (and has more functions then the free mod version...)

i would just buy HL2 itself, but if you're in money problems, and you only wanna play GMod.. maybe this is a better choice..

I say it's even worth it just for having Half-Life 2 alone on the pc. Xbox version was terribly damaged by the lack of console's power and different steering.

I have to say that not all the maps are correctly accurate as I would see them, but it's still cool. Now when you mentioned Garry's Mod for the fourth time I was about to reply, "I don't have Counter Strike: Soucre." Until I read the next quote: [quote=hadeez;3372059]Yes. "SWEET! I didn't know you could get CSS with that. That's like getting 4 free games with $30!" When I get the moeny, I'll definately buy. Thanks guys. I already knew of the thousands of great mods, but now I know I can get Garry's Mod as well. Even better.:)

One more thing, it has five discs, after installing how long do you think I will have to wait for Updates?

Every single Half-Life 2 PC edition has the Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and Half-Life 2: Lost Coast included (last two need to be compleately downloaded though). And as far as I know, they're always on DVD, so it's only one disc. As for the updates, it depends on your connection. One thing is certain, Valve has made more updates, upgrades and fixes to Half-Life 2 and Source Engine than any other game developer, so it's quite a bit to download. I'm sure it'd take almost entire day on my connection. Well, the thing I remember for sure, is that downloading my entire account content (every Valve/hl linked game + RO) instead of installing from the discs, took me almost a week on my 256 kb/s connection. Duh, 27 GB of data afterall...
