I think hl2 is the closest thing to perfection taht i will see in another game in a long time. Hl2 had everything, it was just SOOOOO well done, it was PERFECT in my oppinion, i dont think anything involving the game could have been changed to make it any better. I loved how all the levels were all interconnected with eachother, and everything flowed to the next. Graphics were awesome, sound was amazing, but the thing thats sets this game apart from the others is the interactivity that you do with this game. I remember in other games when i would get a kick out of shooting som1 off a roof, but in hl2 it just feels like thats how it all SHOULD happen, its a living breathing world that is yours to do whatever you want. The characte design and voice acting are superb, the characters really bring you into the setting in this game. MY favorite charcter was either ALyx or father grigory from ravenholm. ALYX was just the coolest person ever, and hot llol, but she really was something to look forward too at an end of a level, or fun to watch her shoot combine guys up. AND father grigory was just so unique and wierd, thats why i loved ravenholm was becuz of him, he is just so off the wall its crazy, also he gave me my fav weapon the shotgun. Im kinda depressed because i dont have an idea in my head how another game can make me feel the way this awesome game did, it was so much fun and so immersive, plz tell me how a game could be better, im just stunned, definently well worth the wait.:)

As a first person shooter it's inherently flawed, but of all the FPS's that I've played, HL2 is the best. It's not my favourite game, though.
Just wait till you get a hold of the upcoming HL3 ;)

'Upcoming' being the key word there... it's only in the planning phase. Hints at being able to control Alyx suggest to me that it won't be as good as we hope.
I wouldn't say HL2 was anything near perfect. Sure, it's the best game I have ever played (I think) but it certanly isn't anywhere near perfection.. so to speak. Give games a few years and we may be seeing some near perfect results ;)
the only negative thing i can think of is the loading times in levels, but i think its a great start for any1 who wants to get involved with gaiming or fps's
Let's hope Valve is preparing an expansion set of Half Life 2 including :
- Loading texture at the beginning of the texture to stop those damn "I play 5 minutes then it loads 5 other minutes"
- Hands! We want to see his hands! We see them on a gun, so we want them on a ladder, in a boat, taking a bottle, etc.
- A scenario that could answer most of our questions...
Man, that would be great.
half life 2 isnt perfect.. it is some of the best games i played.. heres my favs: Call of Duty ( needs blood wounds, and ragdoll and it is perfect ) Half Life 2 ( Needs hands, and the ability to mutilate dead carcasses ) doom 3 ( needs to stop being repetative, needs to have good blood wounds )

How does the ability to mutilate dead corpses improve the game in any way shape or form? Other than to feed your agression.
because i like gore :p
