 I installed Half-Life 2. Registered with Steam. Registered my CD Key, as required. All was o.K. For Offline playing, I checked the keep my password box. I will not be using a different user for the game. Made sure the do not keep my game files in the computer was unchecked. When I click on the Half-Life 2 icon, I get a message " This game is not ready to be played offline yet." Please help me somebody!! Thankyou.

When you start up your PC steam should attempt to connect to the internet. If it cannot it will say "Connection failure." You should have 2 buttons "Retry Conncetion" or "Start in offline mod" If you don't get that then I'm not sure what the problem is. Try HL2 online incase it needs to update. I know mine had to update a few times before it worked offline.

No, that's not the case... I have the sullotion... so this is you Lucky day! When you enter steam, go online (you'll see you get to acces half life 2 now). Okay, but when you're offline you can't get to play it (I'll tell you why, just after the break...)

Okay, right click on Half Life 2 (On the steam menu). Then you go to properties. You'll see a percentation like 98% or something. Stay online untill it reached 100 %. And then (only then) you can play half life 2 in offline mode. YEY!

Please tell me if this worked for you!

O.K. Anti-Hacker, I did as you instructed. All went well until I see the percentage. It stays at 99%. However, Status indicates" Update Needed." Any ideas on this one? What update and where? Thankyou. By the way, thanks to Urbanebula for the response also. I appreciate you people trying to help me out! :bows:

:) Well thanks to you folks, who responded, to my" help" plea, I have made progress! My Offline requirements are as they should be. Now I'm dealing with one of those application errors so many people are getting. When the game is loading...crash! Haven't even see the Main Menu yet! I'm starting to wonder how this game will function, if I ever get it running. It may be more trouble than it's worth!

Jigger, anyway... yeah, I understand your problem now... so, if you try to enter the main menu, the thing crashes? Damn, I have really no answer on that one. If you can give me the error message and your Computer system specs, I can maybe help you.

Please use my email adress and email me. If you want to.

:) Hi Anti-Hacker! Here is the hl2.exe Application Error I can't get around: The instruction at "0x012765f0' referenced memory at "0x012765f0". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. My System Specs are as follows: Microsoft Windows XP, Version 2002, Service Pack 2. MSI Mainboard K7T Turbo 2, Processor AMD Athlon XP 2000+1.66 GHz, Ram 1.0 GB, Video Card FX 5600 256MB. Currently using Nvidia 66.93 WHQL drivers with a Creative Audigy Gamer Soundcard. Soundcard has all of the latest drivers. The computer, for gaming, has been streamlined into a Gaming Profile. (courtesy of Black Viper Website) I've played the larger games, on this computer, such as Far Cry, Doom 3, COD, CODUO, Medal of Honor (all versions) without so much as a "hiccup". I hope this is enough info for you, to work with, as I truly appreciate your efforts in trying to help me out. Thanks again!

Yeah, I saw that you played Doom 3, "I checked all your Forums" and I realized this is not about Doom3.

I get that same error, but only difference is that I'm in the middle of the game when that happens (and usually when I have an Mod installed, like eraser, etc.) but I doubt that what you're problem is... I will try to help you solve this problem, and then i'll post them here.

Could it be a possibility that some virus corrupted some game files? Altough you have a virus program, some other files could already be damaged... I don't know, just a guess.. but I'll try to find out more.:nodding: . Cheers
