I played through the last part again last night and I realized something that Breen said. He said something to the effect of "Gordon, didn't you know that your contract was up for the highest bidder?" At the end when you are speaking to the G-Man, he makes mention of services being contracted out. If this is true, who pays for Gordon to come to City-17? ANd if Breen knew about it, why didn't he pay more to make him stop? What is the connection between Breen, G-Man, and the Combine?

Another thing, have you ever thought about the "Combine"? Maybe that is what they are called because that is what they do, combine. Maybe the Combine are a combination of man and machine, like in that picture with the monkey, man, and combine. Just something for you all to ponder.

I think that Gordon is abit like Neo in the matrix, he is the one, chosen by the G-man or someone above, that has the power to beat about everything and that it is his detiny to do so. If that's the case, was Breen a bidder? Who is the new one? Does it mean that Gordon will always have a mission(I think so)? What does your contract really consit of? At the end of HL1, I think you made some decision with the G-man, join him or perishment will be unavoidable, you probably accepted to join him. So I guess we should have more explications in the next episode(probably add-on) I think that Gordon will try to break his chains.

found that on steam forums.

Karma9800Okay Half Life ended with the G Man - no choice really - work for the G Man or die - so HL2 starts with Gordon waking up to smell the ashes - we presume this has led on from the Aliens infilltrating the planet via the Black Mesa Disaster

Right at the start as you wake up the guy says - Hello didnt see you get on - So you either teleported in or were put there

This doesnt really explain why or how Barney and co are expecting you

Then the end - the G Man can stop time - freeze the action suspend Gordon and hold him again till the next episode

Now one thread is that the G Man is part of a larger government/alien conspiracy that wanted Black Mesa to happen - as a contigency plan they reanimate Gordon Freeman to solve the conbine issue with City 17

But as a more simpler idea - no - G Man is simply the games programmer - he runs the show he makes the worlds - and lets You aka Gordon Freeman - play his games - until you get so far - but he wont let you win the games - wont let you get alyx in the shack and win at the end - no He`ll keep you there suspended in animation again until he reanimates you for HL3

Hes seen at the start of and during both HL and Hl2 - play it again youll see the G Man a few times make a sneak appearance

Overall I thought it was pretty weak - its trying to be clever but in effect weakens any sense out of the idea - they would have been better rewarding us with a escape from the conbine sequence at the end and have gordon knocked out

Basically its a teaser - leaving it open for various interpretations - and I think whatever comes out - Valve will nick and use to feed HL3

I think there has to be a good reason for naming the combine, "the combine". That alone will solve several mysteries. We just need to figure out how.

Even though we know little about the Combine, G-Man is still a complete mystery to us.

Maybe he's god... God-man? He can freeze time... teleport on a whim... and if you ever managed to get near him in HL1, you'd notice he was bullet proof... and bomb proof. I had many fun five minutes attaching trip mines to his head and putting bomb packs around his feet. He's definitely not normal, that's for sure.

I changed my mind, In the game, when Breen talks to ''weird thing on the screen'' he sais:''no way I'm going there blablabla.... A Host body? which mean switching body is possible, which could apply to the combines and G-Man!

little more about the combine, you know that graphic with the ape, the human and the combine, If you remember in HL1 the alien grunts looked pretty much like baboons!

An other thing, Vortigaunts or commonly named the alien slaves seem to be aware more than anyone of the G-man, vorts often call Freeman ''the Free Man'' and even say in a sentence: "We remember the Free Man. We are coterminous." ok, I didn't know what the hell coteminous meant so yeah it means: having the same or coincident boundaries; Having the same scope, range of meaning, or extent in time."(doesn't that click something, enslaved aliens, a Free Man, they are alike, switching body?) they also say: ''we serve the same mistery''(probably G-man) I am guessing that Gordon was ''the one'' chosen to deliver the Vort race(you must admit Gordon is one special guy, taking an entire army on his own)! Which leads us to G-man is A ROBOT!errrr... that he maybe is a vort, but since he's so powerful, he's probably like an elite or most likely,by the way he acts, an observer and a leader .There are probably other people like him as he states in hl1:"Xen is completely under OUR control now." but in HL2 Xen is taken Over by the combines which means poor vorts enslaved once again! so...just when needed, you are thrown in action!

if my hypothesis is true, A relashionship between Gordon and Alyx is, impossible!*cries* It can also look like a game of chess(for diverse reasons that are too long to explain).

I highly suggest you to read on this steams forums thread at this page and those further link :http://www.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=177559&perpage=15&pagenumber=7 the best possibilities are those by Soul_Harvester on p.7-8 and more and by The_extropian on p.8 and erm...others...well you know what, why don't you read everything(long read) and collect your ideas.

well what we do know is that: HL1 G-man says that we are almost in control of xen e.g he or his race HL2 we find out then vorts were slaves and are fighting against the combine which imply the combine control or used to control xen. does that make G-man Combine? or is G-man another race that conquered combine controlled xen when they were attacking earth which forced them to inhabit earth? the second is support with the suggestion earlier that xen attacked in hl1 under the control of the combine What do you think

r3tude HL1 G-man says that we are almost in control of xen e.g he or his race

Um...nope. That was never said.

I guess we will have to wait another 6 years for HL3 guys! Man... It's going to be a long wait indeed. Very clever and interesting ideas surrounding the G-Man and the Combine though guys.
