Because of the Orange Box, Valve can't simply believe we want only one game now. We gamers are greedy and I want more than Episode 3. I want to see what happened to Adrian Sheppard after his abduction in Opposing Force 2 and see Barney's life before and after Freeman's return in Blue Shift 2. To the content in Episode 3, I don't really care, it just has to be better than Episode 2 and have an awesome ending. And after you are done posting, you will be baked, then there will be cake.

One thing I thought of was a bit more of nature taking over Combine creations. We've all seen zombies and Zombine and headcrabs fighting the Combine, and it's really fun to see every time. But what about the nature taking over certain objects and machinery throughout the world. Imagine a new effect made in which a manhack is picked up by a barnacle, and the manhack either shreds up the long tongue, or when the barnacle goes to swallow it, blood spews everywhere. Things like that, but on the opposite side. It's interesting to see forces pitted against each other, like Combine against zombies, but what about simply seeing the parts of the combine turret emplacements, guard walls, large chunks of metal, trains, it would be interesting to see that stuff taken over by zombies, and antlions, and seeing the forces of what the Combine have put on this planet, kind of fighting back. Another thing I just thought of would be a train on fire, going on a track really fast, with Combine and zombies fighting against each other. I doubt we would see this stuff in episode three since we are heading to the freezing cold, but this stuff would all be interesting to see in future games.

I don't expect a big package like the Orange Box in all future releases for Half-Life. Valve was moving big time onto console games and really adding on an advertisement sense that used to be unseen. They've mastered that wonderfully, and the Orange Box itself was a big hand in that. It all occurred by happenstance I think. Episode Two was obviously in development, Valve had just happened to be at a college when finding out about Portal, and Gabe got really excited about that, and Team Fortress 2 had been in development for a looooong time. With Valve deciding to move Episode Two over to consoles, they knew some people would be terribly lost in the storyline, so it was obviously important for them to release HL2 and Episode One for consoles as well. And they might as well work on some of the graphics for HL2 if they're going to release it again. So with all of this happening while trying to grow through advertising, they used it all together to release it all at once. They may make a new Portal, they may make another Opposing Force (though I doubt it), but I think they'll be focusing on Episode Three and releasing it possibly standalone like Episode One. I'm probably wrong but there isn't a ton of new projects that I see them working on any time soon. Portal I can definitely see, Episode Three is a no-brainer, but I don't think they would work on anything else, except for some new content for TF2.

I doubt an other Opposing Force will come out. Hell, the G-Man said that Sheperd is no longer needed. They might make a Portal 2, that might be cool. But I hope they just focus on Ep3 and release just like they released Ep1, in a single box with no other game (Okay, Ep1 have Deathmatch in it as well, but you know what I mean).

I totally agree with you. Shephard is far to out of the storyline to start showing up again, it's simply not something to expect any time soon. The G-Man is probably just keeping Shepard in storage because he fought so well, and does not deserve the death of what has happened in our world. So since the G-Man has no use for him, he'll just let him sleep eternally in his stasis, as a reward for surviving.

And I completely agree with you when it comes to Episode Three. Making another Portal would probably be my only exception inside the box for Episode Three, as well as deathmatch. If people want to catch up on the series, they can make an Orange Box 2, or a Black Box with all the Orange Box content, and Portal 2 and E3. Valve needs a standalone box like Episode One had. The way the box art was made for E1, it looked like they would be able to follow through on that art until they at least finish Episode Two. But with everything they were making, it wound up they really couldn't. I think the box art (if they had the supposed Black Box release) they should have just made it like any of the following:

In fact, I just got an idea. If I can print out one of the covers in the right way, I could use it as a cover for my Orange Box! Of course, the second picture would not really work. It used to be on its own, but someone changed with with a border now.

I would like to see in Episode 3, children, newly born babies, in bags attached the rebels backs, so show that life on earth is starting all over again now that the combine have collapsed and the genetic force field has been lifted. I would also like to see some new weapons, like a new sub machine gun, something which packs more punch than the smg1 but not as hard hitting as the ar2. Portal 2 is a defnate, because if you listen to the commentry, it says somehwere that " In this version of portal blah blah blah but we hope to add such and such in the next portal" obviously without the blah blah blah bits, I can't remember where it says this I think its around the middle of Portal. I think some new enemies would be good as well, the Hunter is excellent, but we need something else for episode 3, like a combine controlled antlion with combine armour, or the synths from the halflife 2. It would also be cool if we met up with a new character in Episode 3 at the borealis, along with mossman we should meet mabye a rebel leader and his gang who have lived near wherever the borealis was, or mabye odessa, where you meet up with him along when your making your way up to the borealis. Or mabye you meet up with the character from portal? Team Fortress 2 is pretty much superb and I dont think weel see a big update for a long time. In episode 3 we need to find out more about G-Man. A lot more. In episode 2 we didnt learn much at all about G-Man, only he has something to do with Alyx now.

In episode 2 Alyx's dad said GMAN rescued him, and for a reason. I have to ask, why ido they want the borellis? It looks like an ordinary ship.

The Borealis is a ship owned and operated by Aperture Science Incorporated. That's right, the same company from Portal, and a company that was in direct competition with the Black Mesa Research Facility for government funding 'back in the day'. Given Aperture Science's unique branch of research, and given that the Borealis is rumoured to have vanished along with a sizeable portion of the docks it was in, it seems probable that some manner of portal-generating technology is contained aboard. If this is true, if the rebellion secured it then it could prove to be an invaluable advantage, whereas if the Combine got hold of it, then it would be extremely dangerous.

As for why certain characters want to destroy the ship, it could be that the technology is prone to failures along similar lines to the resonance cascade or other critically damaging instances. It could also have been previously misused, and thus they want to remove any chance of the same happening again.

Or, there could be something else there entirely, and I could have misunderstood all of the above parts of the story.

I think the chances of the portal gun being a feature in Episode Three are quite high either way, however.

You got it right. The Borealis appears to be a ship but was some type of project from Aperture Science. It has an immense amount of power related to Portal technology, it was the Portal device Black Mesa made. Aperture and Black Mesa were both trying to come to the same end in their Portal development and win government funding. The Borealis disappeared, and Black Mesa underwent everything seen in Half-Life. The Borealis is a device that has ton of power, and can be used for Portal technology. According to Eli, it should be destroyed because Black Mesa taught humanity that power to that extent cannot be controlled, even if you try to. And although scientifically, the Borealis can be used to pretty much beat more crap out of the Combine, something is bound to go horribly, horribly wrong if we try to use that power again. Maybe another Black Mesa, maybe something worse. So we have to get the Borealis before the Combine do, but even if we do, a big question would be "destroy" or "use"? It's one of those things.

I disagree with you on Shepard. G-Man put him in a prison because he is the only person who could actually stop freeman. Being as G-Man is Freeman's "Employer", perhaps a competitor could somehow release Shepard, and have him resume his mission to catch Freeman. Imagine Shepard leading a bunch of Combine against Freeman. Thats similar to what you do in Opposing Force. Just a thought but I do not believe Shepard is "useless"

The other thing I would like to see is a return to Black Mesa. That would be awesome. Well, wasn't it destoryed? Who cares! Valve could just say that it wasn't destoryed (Somehow? I guess Freeman survived the explosion in the end of HL2 so why not?) but that would be good.

Oh and I wanted to know what Eli was gonna say about G-Man but they had to go off and kill him (To our knowledge).
