themanclaw;4035732yeah, I kind of figured that, thats why I said in Half-life 3, which could be a while. Yeah, im hoping for some snowy mountains (which they pointed out in ep.2)

Half-Life 3 is Episodes 1-3. They make up what Valve visualizes as Half-Life 3. The episodic gaming just allows them to create the game much quicker than it would have taken to make Half-Life 3 if they created the entire game. It also permits them to make the series seem more dramatic, and have a much more addictive feeling. HL2 was plentifully fun and fulfilling, even though the ending was a cliffhanger. But the episode games (especially Episode Two) have a much more "To be continued" feel, stopping when you do not want it to stop, leaving players wanting more. If you think about it, Half-Life 2 could have been made through Episodic content.

I don't think so. After such a long wait, they really needed a monolithic release. I have no doubts we'll see the same thing next time - a full game release, new engine and new 'chapter', followed by several episodes to finish up.

Now they aren't, they just finish off on the current Half-Life 2 story arc. If you read the new Marc Laidlaw interview by hl2.nets' very own Samon, which can be seen here. "ML: We conceived the Episodes as a complete three-part cycle stemming from HL2, which is why these are the Half-Life 2 Episodes. The idea was to do something self-contained within the larger series, not to use them to wrap up the series. I don't see how the conflict we've been slowly revealing could possibly be resolved any time soon. Humanity is just starting to glimpse the larger context." AMIRITE?

Mr. Matt;4038434 Yeah, but I was thinking about walls and stuff too. I mean, a black hole powerful enough to pull people in is at least going to bend metal walls a bit, if not rip them to pieces altogether. And if they did allow destructible environments, after only a few shots there wouldn't be much of the Borealis left!

Maybe it could just be a special weapon for a particular point in the game?

So, i was thinking about this and.... Since Aperture Science is STILL Researching Portal technology its most likely they don't know the full power of these things.

Valve can cook up another scientific story to pair up with this guns like the dark energy ratio blah blah to the blah blah has a lower capacity and transfer rate of blah blah.... You know that kinda stuff =/

so it would be weaker instead of wallpaper ripping portals :P maybe a force as powerful as the gravity gun only / Able to pull large objects like cars at a medium rate / Boxes are pulled much more easily and faster / Long Girders are pulled at a slow rate

No need to apologise. :) Anyways, here's my contributions to the thread: 1# Valve to redesign Alyx hands, they are so low-poly 2# Moar of the Alyx -Gordon thingy 3# Moar Dr. Magnusson rudeness 4# More Explained on the Gman 5# A happy ending for once

Well, it wouldn't make any sense to fight alien grunts or controllers, considering that humanity took over xen, and defeated that "force", there wouldn't be much point in them showing up on earth, and if they did, than they wouldn't get along with the combine.
