I've made this thread for all to discuss stuff about the up and coming Episode 2. At last Judith Mossman (The bitch after Eli) seems to die, while Eli Vance is watching her on a screen, as usual she dies before any valuable information is given about the location of the Combine site. I like the fact that now we have an destructable enviroment.. So, now the resistance can get the hell blown out of them.. in the comfort of their homes. It's possible we might see a new character. (A survior from Black Mesa.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CZOz679xD4 Pretty nice trailer. Lets get, er.. discussing?

The recording that Eli is watching is the same one as seen in Half-Life 2: Episode One, it does not confirm werther Mossman's dead or not. Well, I hope for destructable enviroment, but practically it's impossible since all of this has to be done and prepared by human. I haven't heared of anyone coming up wit ha techique which would allow to deform models in the real time including realsitic physics of the process. It would be rather hard algorithm to write. Therefore I think that what we see in the trailer is just prepared building which can be destroyed in a couple of ways and I hope that there will be alot of ones like this.

Well, the most common way to do it, is to build all props, terrain, and buildings out of smaller, breakable objects. With the source engine, the physics should set in on their own after someone breaks a part of it. Only problem is that the source engine is a little funny sometimes, and stuff starts breaking on its own, or with a slightest touch. Can you imagine walking across a room and the whole building collapses due to clunky physics?

But I'm sure with proper tweaking, they could pull it off. However, those things you saw in the video were definitely pre-arranged events.

Indeed, atm all of the games which have destructable objects just use models which devide into smaller ones after interial prop script triggered by set damage value is triggered.

I said a survior from the Black Mesa incident e.g; Eli Vance. Do you mean Dr. Brean or the Alien, like stalker, we keep seeing on screens? I also mentioned we might possibly see a survior not we will. Yes, there from in-game play. It may be certain buildings the people retreat to.

It was stated that another survivor from Black Mesa will make an appearance in Half-Life 2: Episode Two in one of the interviews.

Hasn't all of this already been said? Indeed, new users find it boring to read through old posts, but (excluding the bit about pre-arranged destructable environments) all the mess about new characters and wether Mossman is dead or not has already been talked about, no?

Indeed it has, but if people want to discuss it again, then why not? It's quite tidy here anyway, check out the Steam User Forums if you think this is bad.:p
