What do u guys think? do u like haveing to be logged into steam in order to play hl2?, do u think they did this just because of copyright problems?

You do not need to be online to play. Choose offline mode, but be sure to be disconnected from the net before you start steam.
what do u think of purchaseing games off of steam? i personally bought it off of steam, and was very happy with it, even tho i dont have a hard copy i can go to any other computer and login with my steam account and it downloads my games. i thought that was pretty dang cool.
I took offence to being forced to register all my personal details over the internet before I could play the came I paid £30 to use, but I can see the logic behind it. However, I have no idea whether or not it's any harder for thieves to actually get an illegal copy of HL2 working or not, as I don't know whether or not Steam will still accept false CD keys (those generators they have). So if it's actually no more effective at stopping pirates, then I really do take offence to behing forced into registering all my personal details for no apparent reason.
I'll buy and play the game probably in a few years from now, while pc's and old games are cheap to buy. I don't think I want a new pc now, just a DVD burner, screw CDs, they die so fast especailly PNY cds.
Btw, the best way to test cd's is, take a cd and put in a microwave and wait for about 6 sec. then take another and do that again and compare for which one has less holes in the face (up) side as more of the top cover goes off, the worse the cd is.

:uhoh:
Well apparently it is working because valve busted over 20000 accounts trying to play the pirated version, theyll be lucky if they arent prosecuted. I don't see what the big deal about steam is, all you have to do is register once then you can play offline till your hearts content. I have a bigger problem with valve itself, and their I dont care what the consumer thinks attitude.
